This request goes mostly to low-end system users but also to those who know somethin' about 3D Mark scores. Specs:
Celeron 750
256 MB SDRAM
GeForce MX440SE 64 MB DDR (using only 2x AGP because of crappy mobo)
Audigy 2 + other stuff
3DMark2001SE score: 1930
Is that normal? I kinda doubt it...
-
Probably. That system sucks four and one quarter eggs.
-
Aww c'mon, it's a pretty good medium-level machine. Granted you could upgrade to something twice as powerful without much effort - but not everyone has that kind of money.
-
but my computer is badest
p4 3,2ghz
2.0 gb ram
radeon 9700
;)
-
Let me guess who payed for that.
Oh no, wait, you already told us. You really have sold your soul to Sony haven't you?
As for you, Thunder, the secret is to take out a second student account under the feigned promise thta you will be paying your loan in to it. But just rape the overdraft for a new computer
-
Thanks for that (very wrong and immoral) idea ;) Although the only thing I really want right now is a larger HD, water cooling and a Radeon 9800 Pro.... meh...
-
:wtf:
You actually paid full price for a "genuine" 3.2Ghz P4 or is that the much, much better value for money (even better than AMD) overclocked 2.4 or 2.6C (note: that doesn't stand for "Celeron" it's the Intel code for 800Mhz FSB Northwood B P4s) option?
I'm a tad pissed Intel released the best value for money CPU upgrade since the Celeron 300A along with their best chipset since 440BX (i875) just months after I'd bought all this AMD gear but such is life, I couldn't wait much longer to upgrade the old creaking Pentium II and at the time, AMD still held the price/performance crown.
Getying back on topic somewhat, I've had this system for nearly six months but never ran 3DMark on it. Given my specs (2400+, Radeon 9500 Pro), I'd say it'd be possible to reach somewhere between 7 and 10,000 but I'm comfortable enough with the size of my penis to not want to test that theory out.

My kind of person :)

After overclocking my CPU to 2GHz, I hit the holy grail - a nice, round 10000. Ph34r teh penis.

Oooh I'm planning a full upgrade very soon now. Until then, I just want to run Morrowind decently. And that average 12 FPS I'm having, is unfortunately far from decency.

I wish kicking it would help.
Only divine intervention could beat 30 FPS out of this ancient mammoth crap

Go and play Quake3 on low detail - I reckon you could squeeze 30FPS out of it...

Pfff, I get that on high detail. The original Quake 3 engine is nothing.
The one they made for Elite Force 2 on the other hand... :hopping: :nervous:

I knew that would happen if I tried it. Never learn, do I? Oh well. Which one did Sony pay for then? A laptop?

If $3345 is cheap (I'm assuming that's US dollars which is even worse) I'd hate to see your definition of expensive...

That's the most sensible thing I've heard all day.

Whoah... I'm glad I don't have a Geforce MX... Even my system (1.4Ghz Athlon-before-the-XP-stuff) can get over 2000 in 3DMark with a very, very old Voodoo 3 2000... 16mb! And it's good enough for me :p
-
Athlon XP 1700+ with a Radeon 9700 Pro. Quake 3 runs at full detail, 1280x1024 resolution, at about 60fps.
Even UT2003 can manage 50fps at 1024x768. My computer is nearly 2 years old, and it can run new games really well. For the amount this thing cost me two years ago, you could buy an Athlon XP 3000+ with a Radeon 9800 Pro and a massive hard disk. That'd run several games at once...
-
*mumbles incoherently*
-
Okay...you can now clearly see that there's something wrong with my system.

:hopping:
-
My result:
Pentium 4, 1700 MHz
314 RAM, GeF4 MX 440
Score: 4166
[OH!] ;) 3Dmark2001, 1024x768x16, Texture quality: 16-bit, others are default.
-
Gotta find a way to fiddle with IOQD now. As far as I know 1 is somekind of debug setting and that's what I currently have.
Damn BIOS, why don't you have all the options I need...
-
*wonders if he should mark his Duron 600, 320 Ram, and 32 meg GF2 PCi card...* :p
-
*is DLing now...*
Last time I did this, I told Kazan my score, and he was amazed I got Starcraft to run on it... :p Let alone FS2
-
I scored 1374 on the 3dMark2000 test...
and on 3DMark03 I scored:
20 3D Marks :nervous:
-
Whoa...I guess 3DMark03 is out of question in your case :p
-
My system got 3380 points on 3DMark 2003. I guess that means that Half Life 2 and Doom 3 should be playable on it, huh?
-

Should be? Will be. :D
I hope the authors will optimize the performance well. I hope Doom 3 will be running on my comp well. :hopping:
-
I just ran 3DMark 2001 with maxed-out settings:
1280x1024
32Bit
6xAA
Triple Framebuffer
and got a score of about 5530 (forgot to note exact score).
Then I ran it with default settings:
1024x768
32Bit
No AA
Double Framebuffer
and got 11460...
I can't wait for Half Life 2 :D

You can, because you are already waiting.
Your machine is stronger than the explosion of a Helios...

:nervous:
I guess this means I should upgrade?

(at default 1024*780 settings)
My old pc;
Amd Athlon XP 1500+
dodgy Asus motherboard (might have been a generic ripoff)
256mB SDRAM
GF2 MX100/200 32MB
Score - ~1300 marks
(I think part of this may have been that i never bothered to reinstall Windows, i just plonked my old HD into the new machine)
My improved Pc;
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Abit nForce2 KF-7s
512MB RAM (running at 266 on the slowest DDR slot due to case size issues :( )
Gainward Geforce FX5600 128MB RAM
Score- ~8500 marks
-
3DMark03 I scored: about 3907 or was it 4087
-
How would we know? :p
-
i dind't mean like that:p
-
My computer isn't particularly good by modern standards. If my motherboard supported AGP 8x it'd be faster, since I have a Radeon 9700 Pro (I'm sure people are sick of hearing that now). My next upgrade will probably be the processor and motherboard: Athlon XP 1700+ to Athlon XP 2800+. Should give a nice speed boost.
-
*ponders installing 3dmark on the 2.8GHZ*
-
Ph34r my 12891 in 3DMark2001SE with a AXP 2100+ and Ti4200.
-
Heh. I win again. Just upgraded to an Athlon 2600+, with a brand new (£100) motherboard: 4758 on 3DMark03...
I love this system...
Checked it on 2001SE, too. 13800.
-
Tis strange no? I've never been able to any version of 3dMark to run on my 500mhz.
-
Descenterace: What video card are you using?
-
Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro. I think I've mentioned that a few times...
Ah well, once more can't hurt.

Okay, now I gotta give this a shot. :D
-
new 3dmark record for me 5000points
-
Okay, I'm downloading v320 and the v330 patch. Holy crap, it's huge... 180mb just for a benchmark. Is the download the first part of the test? I'll probably fail. :p
-
I was just wondering. Didn't seem to be quite high enough for a 9800 Pro, but it was beating my overclocked Ti4200 by a bit.
-
Okay, 3DMark03 is finally up to 97% (download!). I'll be displeased if it doesn't even want to run. :hopping:
-
I bloody hate PC World. This new motherboard is pretty good, but it's a) overspec, b) incomplete (missing the IO backplate, the cables, and some mounting screws) and c) the CPU socket has screwdriver marks around it.
So I'm taking it back today, and I'll buy a cheaper one on EBuyer instead. So I've gotta sign up for a credit card today as well...
-
:hopping:
3DMark03 won't run - just exits as soon as it finishes loading Wings of Fury. Boo.
-
Aww... lol
I'm sorry, but maybe you're system is *gasp* worse than mine?
*silence*
:nervous:
-
Yeah, I guess so. I'm downloading 3DMark01 right now, which will probably disgrace me even more, but oh well. :D
-
Hey, if you can get close to my 1300 score, you can join me in praying a TC to HT&L is done soon. :)
-
3DMark2001:
You scored 1022 points!
Couldn't even run half the tests. I feel ashamed. :o
-
Don't, if it wasn't for my card being PCI and using 70 megs of system ram, I'd do less than you :p
