Title: My FIRST artwork
Post by: TopAce on September 27, 2003, 08:58:04 am
I am getting interested in art. I used Photoshop 7.0 to make this planet:
It's 1024x1024.

by the looks like you've been experimenting with mouse coloring.. or do you have a tablet..?

My advice, make a circle with the circle tool on a separate layer, preserve transparancy, and use that.. a perfect sphere is a  good thing :)

prety good... though the bottom looks a bit pointy, and there is no terminator line...

(I had to right click proporties, copy, paste, download open to see it though...)

I was having problems with the green background(0, 255, 0). The Paint bucket tool had drown inside the planet, and I forced myself to remove the 'darker' than 0, 255, 0 with the pencil tool. This is the reason it is not so circular.

You hand-drew that? I have a soft-spot for hand-done material. Very pretty. ;)

No, I was erased the previous version so I can upload the newest. You visited this thread when I had erased the older version, and didn't upload the newest. :)

It doesn't look so fine in the game, at the scaling of 6x6. :(

My advice is to work on a black background. You can blur the edges, add atmospheric effects, etc. and it will give you a better approximation of what it will actually look like. Only dye the background (pure, aliased) green when you're completely finished.

Looks quite good, actually. It looks like there's actually an atmosphere and the planet below is teeming with life. Good job.

Would be possible. But first, I should re-gradient the image. It is too bright as of my opinion.

Well..for starters it's not that bad. If you would use it as a planet in FS2, it shouldn't look too bad viewed from distance. Oh and if you wanna make cool planets use Lunarcell.
