Hi.
My request is this: could somebody make a varient of the TC-TRI with flightpaths coming out laterally from the black protrusions of the cargo pod? The aim is to convert the TC-TRI into some sort of fighter/bomber pod. The name could be something like TFP-TRI or something.
Thank you!
(May the laughing against my simple idea commence! )

I did something similar in a mission for TMA once (the mission was later ditched for other reasons). Instead of putting paths on the TC-TRI I simply put a bunch of fighters inside the cargo and blew it up at the required point in the mission.
That works if the cargo is still.

Yeah, right now I can only 'launch' fighters from pods if the pod is stationary. What I would like to do is have the pod docked to a Triton and have the fighters launch while the Triton is moving.

interesting, i would imagine you would have to stop it though. almost all the ships i remember in the game when ships launched had 0 velocity. it might be a game thing.

A cap ship doesn't need to be stopped in order to launch fighters... I've done it in a few missions. On the matter of the TC-TRI pods while its on the front of a Triton, I came up with a similar idea for pirates and raders to use ships such as this as mini-cap ships I call pocket-destroyers. One model would be indestinguishable from a regular Triton & cargo and mount additional anti-fighter beams and more hit-count. The front of the modified cargo pod might even have a visible door that swings up on command (sexp rotate & stop-rotate subsystems) or something like that so it looks normal until its ready to launch fighters. Another model would be a full fusion of the freighter and cargo module rather than having them docked together (to free up another dockpoint), though the cargo segment would be minus the blocky extensions on the side and a bit more streamlining. This 2nd version also mounts a cap-ship beam cannon on the front of the ventral engine strut, though a small one by those standards. I call them Wolf class since the incognito versions are a wolf in sheep's clothing, and the 2nd model because they attack in wolfpack strategies.
Later!
