Hey there,
I have made some ships (some are nice other are...) know I want to convert them to FS2.
My main problem is that I haven't Truespace. So far as I know you need Truespace to convert the models in the right way. (I mean faceing+Texturing NOT file converting)
So my question is, is there an other way to convert the ships into FS2? I have allready tryed 3DE, but the outcome was not so good. The ships faceing in the wrong direction, even when I turn the model first and convert them after that. Second thing is that I can see right trough the ships.
So is there an other way? Or can I send someone the model for converting and Texing?
I will post pis and "story", but at the moment my I can't. Props with Tripod
Hope you can help me.

Well in 3DE there is something under tools that says invert faces and then you see the model normally...dunno if that helps you but it might.

Truespace is kinda a necessary evil.
I think you need at least Truespace v2.0
which is up for legal download somewhere.
Otherwise Kazan left a SDK for his conversion tool so others could make it do something other than .cob -> .pof.
If you write a .3ds -> .pof plugin you would be a LOT of peoples Hero.

.lwo->.pof would be even better imho (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

That usually works for me. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Nah! sheddap! 3ds2pof would rule the world, the galaxy and, in fact, the whole creation.

Never thought I'd say this to someone. Guess what your links don't work! And by the way a DFX,WRL,OBJ -> POF would I think be far better then any other because that way You could make the models in blender. the best modeling program ever.

I gotta love your dxf2pof converter and the untextured ships it would make (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

bah, the best modeling program is notepad. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Piffle. The best modelling program in the world is the one that does exactly what you want, in exactly the way you want it done, at exactly the time you want it. No more, no less.
I have to agree with Venom though. LWO->POF would be nice (especially for me), but not terribly useful to most people. You want something useful? Write a GMax->POF program; then the community would have something to cheer about.

Milkshape 3D can export to loads of file types so BRING IT ON! but since I have 3ds max 4 .3ds would be useful (as long as it had EVERYTHING you can do in .pof editors in conversion...
