Title: EOTP: There, but for the grace of God, trailer released!
Post by: Yoseph on September 29, 2003, 05:39:16 pm
After a couple of weeks of hard work, I am pleased to announce that the trailer for EOTP: There, but for the grace of God, has been released.

It requires DIVX 5, which you can download from //www.divx.com .

Get the trailer here:

http://www.cambium.com/eotp

Download the file EOTPTBFTGTrailerDIVX.avi.

Comments are requested, and I would like to remind everyone that a test set of 4 missions will be released soon, as well as a EOTP website based at //www.cambium.com/eotp . Both of these should be out by the weekend.

The missions will use placeholder ships, but I want to make sure the community likes the balance so far.

EOTP: TBFTGG is still searching for texture artists, an additional modeler, and a 2D artist. Please email me at [email protected] if you're intrested.

I forgot to include we still need voice actors, as well.

ALOT of voice actors. :)

Trailer looks very cool. Some awkward moments ("Fight The Good Fight" should not have been on the screen for more than 2 seconds) but overall well done.  How did you get the character animations, may I ask?  Did you do them yourself? ;7

You do know that you can put this in your sig? ;)

Thanks. Alot of work went into it. :)

The character animations were not done by myself per say, but they were produced by the EOTP team under my direction.

On "Fight the Good Fight"...

I tried it like that at first, but I didn't like how it came out, so I changed it to coming in slowly. Also allowed me to make the latter end flow better, especially timing up the music to explosions and cuts in the video.

And yes, I know I could set that in my sig, but I'm not sure how to set my sig in the first place. :)

I liked it, though I take it that this is not based in the FS2 universe but is rather an alternate setting? (btw, no, I haven't read the short story :)

Ooh.  Hmm... have you tried to do any Vasudans? :)

It's called pacing.  It ruins the pacing of the trailer, because it adds a huge delay.  Splice in some more action shots if the timing is off, but don't keep the text on the screen. :p

Top of screen: Profile --> Edit Profile --> type stuff in the signature field.

So you know Goober, I'm going back and trying to work out a few ultra short action shots for the "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT" seqeuence. Might change the music as well. We'll see. :)

Sorry, no Vasudans in EOTP :)

The character shots you saw in the EOTP: There, but for the Grace of God trailer, I pulled from the EOTP pilot that's being worked on atm.

The guy in the command chair giving orders is Captain Yoseph Cohen, commanding officer of the CSV Lion of Judah, (De'tolac Class Battleship). Though, in that part of the pilot, he's commanding a CDF Heavy Destoryer.  The girl is Major Ruth Goldburg, the ship's fire control officer. The other guy is Major David Hanson, chief engineer.

Closest thing you'll see to Vasudans is Commander Mavik, the executive officer. He hails from a pesudo-reptilian race, and has scales on the top of his head.

And yes, EOTP is not in any way shape or form set in the FS2 universe. I just love the game, and think its a great platform for an EOTP campaign, and I hope you guys enjoy playing it.

Check www.cambium.com/eotp in a few days; I'll have alot more stuff up there, than simply the trailer which is all that's there, atm.

I'll leave you with this poster for the EOTP pilot...(EOTP.org doesn't work...yet. :))

That's some pretty nice stuff there, Yoseph - welcome to HLP. :) Are you the same Yoseph who I just authorised on ICQ? What can I do for you?

Yoseph, your short clip is NOTHING short of amazing.

I just hope that in your campaign you use OPEN_fs2.

Reason? It looks so much better! I so much WANT something good to come out of this!

A bit... Jewish, don't you think? ;) Out of personal curiosity, whereabouts do you hail from, Yoseph? :)

1. I fail to see what the problem of having Jewish characters in a Sci-fi series is, or why it matters.

2. "Lion of Judah" is not a Jewish reference - its a reference to Jesus.

3. All 3 major religions are represented in EOTP (Judism, Christianity and Islam), and they all work together with each other.

4. The other bridge crew and command staff for the CSV Lion of Judah include, Shelly Hamond (Christian), Calvin Demood (Christian), Mavik (Christian, Saurian), Hassan Amir (Islam), Achmed Hassul (Islam, Moderate), Kevin Taylor (Agnostic), Dr. Hayworth (Athesist).

As for where I'm from, I'm from the US, and I'm a non-demonimational Christian.

Let me for one say that I both enjoyed your trailer and the amount of depth your putting into the characters in your MOD. One thing that FS2 lacked is a focus on character development, the most character we saw was in Snipes and Admiral Bosch.

If the man has his crew so detailed as to their religious beliefs (or lack thereof) then I for one would be very much interested to see what he puts out in the release.

1. Did I say there was a problem? ;)

2. Jesus is Jewish. :)

3+4. Cool, although from a modern-day standpoint a bit unrealistic. Under the right circumstances, however, it's quite possible. :)

1. Not directly, but I always get alittle touchy when people make comments like "Oh, that's a Jewish name" or "Hmmm, what's this series about, Jews in space?". Kinda annoys me. No offense intended. :)

2. Yes, my boss is a Jewish Carpenter! :P ;)

3+4 - There are alot of intresting reasons why, but you'll need to read the story to fully understand (EOTP Website coming soon!)

Oh, and the characters aren't for the Mod  guys - They're for the TV series.

The mod is set 20 years before, at the start of the League of Sol/Terran Coalition war.

One other thing. I /really/ need someone to remodel my highpoly ships into lowpoly ships and import them into FS2.  I do not want to use FS2open, instead I want the mod to be as widespread as possible - most people aren't going to download 200-300 megs just to play my mod.

If yer intrested in doing anything, give me a shout. :) I can't do everything by myself :)

1. Heh, Yoseph, you really ought to meet and have a chat with Sandwich. Can't hurt to have two Israelis (incidentally, why aren't you called Israelites any more?) at HLP. ;)

2. Hey hey, we got another one. :D ><>

But I'm not an Israeli. :)

I'm just your standard somewhat conservative American chap. :)

That happens to write kickass sci-fi. :)

And yeah, I'm going to try to track his ICQ number down :)

You'd have had it already had you enabled PMs on the board. :p

Oh, and most likely Joseph and Jesus were stone masons and not carpenters, considering the ratio of wood to stone used in buildings back then - especially around here. :)

My mistake. ;) Stone mason? Hmmm... has a different ring to it, "Jesus, the stone mason"... interesting. :)

I think it'll be good so long as the religious aspect doesn't play too great a part in the campaign. More fighting, less theology. :)

Finally got around to watching the trailer - looks pretty good, I must admit. :) The only "major" nitpick (is that not an oxymoron?) is that the characters should have some head movement, especially while speaking. :)

Prehaps, but then again, I don't believe there's many...if any campaigns that have professionaly done characters in there trailers. :)

Incedently, I'm moving towards releasing the first 4 missions, but I still have no one willing to do some model conversions for FS2.
