Title: is there an internal forum or are things just slow
Post by: redmenace on October 03, 2003, 11:20:09 pm
is there an internal forum or are things just slow?
Reason is I haven't seen UT, RT, boboua, peguin, Goober, phreak  or inquisitor posting lately. If there is now an internal forum can we atleast read it and not post there? This will be the biggest mistake(establing an internal forum) the SCP could make. An internal forum closes the public off to the progress of this project. People will get disinterested and the project will shrivle and DIE! I don't wish this upon the project, but I don't see it surviving longterm a interal forum. I Love the SCP, however, I am duely warning the staff that this will happen. And please think hard about the issue.

Maybe my first post was too confrontational but I still am seriously asking the question. Is there an interal forum? And I know there is an internal contact list. But I still am promoting full disclosure. But I think there should be a public debate about this.

Good points raised, redmenace. AFAIK the great problem was with clutter - not being able to post would fix that. I'll contact all the staff.

The team decided the best way to argue about the details of specifc code loops, and not have the threads hijacked by feature requests, was to have an internal forum.

We are not hiding anything ;)

*I* haven't been posting because I am getting ready for IGC, where I am speaking AND launching a game title for MGT, and with any luck, bragging a bit about the work done here.

I have not seen RT in weeks, but i did get copied on an email between him and bob.

As for the others, maybe homework? People don;t have to post 24/7, and if a private forum gets this team more productive, that's what it is all about. Would you rather they do less?

Seriously, we're not hiding anything, and things will progress as they have been, and we'll always talk here.

They want one so they can discuss code without knowitalls like you and me who haven't even looked at the code telling them what would be a better idea to do :D

RT has developed some sort of personal crisis, so he likly won't be active for some time, he did say he was going to get what he had to us somehow

I feel bad about RT and hope things clear up. I do realize that life is priority one and as a business management major I can testify that semi real life project, work, home work, and reading for class chews up alot of time. But I don't have a problem with a internal forums as long as it can be a read only to the stock HLP Forum member. This still could lead to static admitedly in the main SCP forum about future plans and the code. This way this still keeps people active and interested.

The best advertisement for this game is seeing the cool things you guys are developing.

The best incentive for us to continue is for you to make missions using those cool things.
