Title: Question about Red Alert missions
Post by: Yoseph on October 05, 2003, 01:34:43 am
Hey, got a quick question - found out that FRED2 has a hard ship limit, so i need to divide a mission into 2 parts..

Tried to setup Red Alert for it, but the mission keeps repeating itself, even though objectives have been reached.

Any ideas here?

I have the second mission set to "Red Alert", and the capital ships/fighters/players ship set to "carry red alert status".

Hey, Yoseph. Fred questions belong in the Campaigns forum. :)

Btw, sorry if I didn't reply on ICQ earlier - by the time I got back to the keyboard you were offline. PMing me might be a better idea if you have something to discuss privately.

Did you set up the campaign file correctly? Red alert missions ONLY work if part of a campaign. With out that there is no way for the mission to know which mission comes next.

I still don't understand this... FREDding = Modding. Not a campaign. It is campaign creation, and that in turn is also modding. :blah:

I suppose that the logic goes like that:
missions -> campaign :)

Actually, I don't know why this forum exists at all (apart from the obvious) - I wasn't here when it was established. I'm just following the forum description. :)

Same, that's why I posted my lessons here - but maybe let's add Fred to the Forum name?
Something like Freespace Fredding & Campaigns would make sure that these kind of topics don't land in the Modding Forum - missions can be designed without mods after all. *hope that doesn't disappoint the modders*

Yes, I set them up inside of a campaign, first mission first, then the RA mission second.

It kept looping back to the first mission.

Ideas?

did it quit to the main hall after the mission? if so you may not have joined them up in the campaign editor and so it thinks thats the end of the campaign

That's pretty odd. You did actually drag and drop the first mission onto the second one to connect them right?

There are times in life when we all feel like complete and total morons.

Well, this is one of them for me. :)

Apparently, last night at 4 AM, I completely forget to connect the missions together. Fixing that this morning, everything is good to go.

Thanks for the help guys. :)
