This is the new Mjolnir model I am working on that I mentioned in this thread:

Why? well, the :V: model is, in my opinon, rubbish. Besides, when the new HT&L system becomes fully functional, poly counts on ships will go through the roof.
Now, I'm detailing the model up, but I'm runing out of ideas. That's why I was looking for Mikhaels uber-high poly model he created for renders. For ideas.
Any comments/suggestions? be honest, I won't bite ;)

Lets see...
main hull: 182 (:V:'s was 13) EDIT: now it 510 with a ventral docking hatch
Grind 1: 355 (:V:'s was 145)
Grind 2: 510 (:V:'s was 70)
main turret: 26 (:V:'s was 12)
missile turrets: 10 EDIT2: these have 58 polys now
haven't got around to LODS or debris...

Put stuff on the main body... Maybe some tubing, or circuitry-like stuff. :D

If I could figure out a decent way to do it, I'd produce some 'blueprint' images. :D
For the record, its not that high-poly. Its just shy of 30K polys. It still needs more details and some maps. :D

Heh, if you could knock that down to say 8-9000 polies, I'd so want it for in game :D

Believe it or not, I probably COULD.
Right off you can knock off about 3k poly for cooling vanes. Another 1k for door hatches. About another 2k for pointless nurnies... All this on just the outer grinder. The inner grinder can be similarly trimmed, etc. The beam core and aft maintenance chamber can also be trimmed by a huge amount (more pointless nurnies).
By the time you're done, you could have the whole thing down to about 10k to 15k polys tops.

Well, there is some tubing in the main body, but it's kinda hard to greeble it, as the bulk of it is covered by the Grind parts...:doubt:
I'll get mine to the old poly limit (approx 750 polys per sub-object IIRC), and Mikhael could re-work his to fit in Bobs HT&L stuff... ;) (can't remember the poly limit per subobject, but it was almost stupidly high)

That'd be ideal for the HT&L build. Say, how are you at LWO2POF, Mik? ;)
