Does anyone know of a freeware Unix emulator for windows? I would like to have one so I can experinment with the commands without having to go to the labs.

Try cygwin.

Cygwin is a poor emulator for giving someone the proper "feel" of a Unix like system.
download a Knoppix ISO or Gnoppix ISO and burn yourself a bootable Linux-on-a-CD. That way you get to try the real thing without having to repartion or whatever.

It's a great product but pricey as all hell though...

I don't know how. Besides, what if I'm in a location where I can't get internet or network access? Then it wouldn't matter if I knew how to or not.

Hehe, I'm a poor college kid. Having money is a fantasy of mine....
I'll look into Knoppix. Thanks.
