Aussie money is cool. I can't find a thing I don't like about that country...
-
I don't think I'd be able to counterfit plastic bills

What about Sea Wasps(most posionous jelly fish in existance, followed by the Box jelly fish)? Or the most human agressive species of shark? Or the multitudes of posionous spiders and snakes?
I'll deal with the occational hurricane, thank you.
About the topic: Does anybody remember how long the original twenty lasted before we had to meddle in a great system? Sure, counterfieting was a problem, but now that we are constantly changing the design and countermeasures, don't you think that it delivers the message: 'I bet you cant fake this'? If we'd just settle on a good design and leave it alone for a decade or so, it woul stop being such a problem. It would save tons of money as well, have you any idea how much money could be allocated to freedom-proofing america(Patriot II) instead of fake-proofing the most widely circulated bill?

COOL!
-
We have lots of poisonous invertebrates. If you can deal with those, you'll be fine. :D
Have you seen how our economy's been doing lately, Turnsky? Our dollar's really climbed recently, I should start importing some stuff. ;)
-
We have flies that lays spiked eggs under your skin, the when they hatch, the larva feeds from you, causing necrosys.
F34R France :p
( to be honest, I have yet to see or hear about one case of those lovely beasts )
-
That picture of Jackson looks like one of those new annoying pop-up ads on websites -- you know, those Flash animations that have a really small close box in the corner. I liked it better with the elliptical border. ;)

Screw worm flies? I had to study them for a primary school science project... the scary thing is that they only feed on living flesh. *shudders* Gives me the heebie-jeebies. :shaking:

dunno. it's a kind of fly that supposedly lives around ( well, sometimes IN, I suppose :p ) horses and cows. Lots of cows and horses around my place, but I've never seen such flies ( well, at least, haven't been stung and eaten alive by spiked lil larvaes. the thought of it makes me shudders, tho I admit )

mmm, i always found US money hard to recognise, it's all green.
EU money as all th colors there aqre, and it includes those reflective thingy's, and some other ****.
-
yeah, plus the format is easier to store, and they're tough. I like the euro, it's well thought.
-
well, wait untill you see them €100 bills, there huge.
the 500 is pretty nice though, 200 is slightly ugly.
i saw them all IRL, when we went to the bank to open a new account the guy just got the new money and showed us, pretty cool.
-
*bump*
;) found this at Nodwick.com ;)

Who would want to fake that?
-
That certainly would be an improvement. Forget "dead presidents", gimme dem "screaming aliens".
Also, I don't much mind the new $20. More effective to fake fivers in bulk anyway, and nobody looks at 'em so as long as they're more or less the right color and wrinkly nobody'll notice, knew a couple guys who started printing their own sheets off of the crappy $50 artroom printer, took months before anyone noticed and last I heard the FBI still had no clue who they were. However, when they start making dollar bills in pink and purple, I am getting the **** outta this country.

That's what the numbers and different presidents/pictures are for......
-
yeah, but if you need to spot something fast when it is in our wallet, different colours are better. and i forgot, is all the us money the same size or is it different there too?
-
Aussie notes are all different colours and different sizes. Go Australia, go Aussie exams, go Aussie white-tails... wait, what? :nervous:

Our coins are different sizes.
-
LOL It'll all mean nothing in 5 years time, when they change them yet again ;) It's a national pastime here ;)
As for poisonous invertabrae, we have them here as well, only rather than being called Sea Wasps, they are called Politicians ;) hehehehehe
Flipside :D
-
I can find very few non-cool things about Japan as well, the 10000 yen note is neat looking.

so the bills are the same color and the same size?
so if you have to slip someone a bill you'd have to look at carefully first?
-
Yeah, shocking isn't it? Actually having to look at money before giving it away? So identifying our bills requires recognition skills slightly beyond the kindergarten level.
-
On the insetc topic. I heard that somewhere in UK they have spiders that can crawl under your skin. :shaking: Is that for real?
-
Ever seen a 5 euro bill? Its so small it could pass for monopoly money. And I'm not joking!
-
we have a joke here in the states about how all foreign money looks like monopoly money.
-
oh I wanna hear that that must be so hilarious that must rock your m0th4 !!!!!!!11111

Uhhh... you just heard it. That's the joke. "Foreign money looks like Monopoly money".
It's funny because it's true.
-
Well, all money in paper form is rectangular with bits printed on it, so all money everywhere looks like Monopoly money really :) Possibly because of what Monopoly money was based on which was er...... money :D
Flipside :D

Is it just me or do they make wallets to the smallest possible dimensions? I can fit fivers in mine no problem, tenners at a pinch, but anything above that won't physically fit!
Also, can anyone tell me who the hell that woman is on £5 notes? (And no, I don't mean the Queen)
The caption looks like it says "Ely the Fly"
-
This is the bint I'm on about.

Well said, the new £5 notes are much easier to fit in wallets.
-
:wtf: Since when do you have paper money, Petrarch?

Aesthetics over functionality. Nice.

Well that's why I was looking at the Bank of England's site, to remind myself what money looks like.
-
tellme, what genius decided that Scottish money should be different from English money?
i mean, use Euros, or at least one kind of pounds, but this is getting annoying if you travel around the country.
-
Well indeed.
What was more annouying is that before Ireland adopted the Euro, and still had the Irish Pound, shops in Dublin would accept £Sterling, but give change in the Irish pounds. The result being that you'd get ripped off, as Irish pounds were worth about 75 English pence at the time. I found this out the hard way, see.
