I seem to have pressed a button somewhere that has screwed up several things. First, as I click verts they are accumulated as if I was ctrl-clicking them. This is annoying. Secondly, if I try to grab a model and move it about, the model stays put and the display moves. Also annoying. Thirdly and (I think) lastly, when I punch in dimensions for the model, only the mesh is resized, leaving the lights where they were and consequently FUBARing the size of the damn thing.
These problems may or may not be related. A rhubarb and custard Chupa Chup to the person who can sort my life out on this one. Place your bets!

The first and second thigs are as such:
When you right-click on the model, and it goes to edit mode, there is a button that looke like the mastercard sign, 2 interpenetrating circles, they affect selection. Deselect them.
The second one is kinda making me thing you have the rotate view button selected, rather than the rotate object one. If that is the case, click the one that looks like a box with the circular arrow around it.
I'll look into the third thing soon.
-
The lights thing, hm... Do you have the entire hierarchy selected? Or only the hull? Go to the very root of the hierarchy, so that everything is selected, and try it. If you already did, then I don't know what your problem is. Sorry.
-
can't you just use "object scale" when re-sizing ?
-
Problems is Trusepace....really....
It's the easyest modeling program I've seen...and that's why I'm using it!
Alas...there's allways the danger of the "button of doom" ( when you acidently do something that screws your work and you have no idea what just happend!)
-
TrueSpace is not a bad piece of software as all of you complain. Learn it, and you'll see.

*hijacks thread*
Use Blender. It's what the sane people use.
-
Blender Confuzzles me...
-
does it happen with any model?
if yes, try to restore the default options, maybe even reinstalling truespace

Yeah. I'm sure they start out sane when they begin using it. The ones who uninstall it and go on to something else are the ones who stay sane.
Seriously snoj drop the pro-blender campaign it's getting old.

I guess you're right (about the pro-blender, not the sane thing). And I suppose I've turned into a little troll as well. Well I'm sorry about that.
*leaves thread*
[EDIT] Does that mean no more tutorials then?

TRUESPACE IS GREAT!
ANd DON'T YOU FORGET IT!:mad2:

Nah. Feel free to write help for those who use blender. I'm always happy to see them even if I don't need them myself at the moment.
My point is that I personally use TS6 myself I make tutorials for TS and I'm happy to see them used but I don't insist that everyone uses TS. Some people like TS and find it easy to use. Other people hate it with a passion. I think the best thing to do is make it as easy as possible to use them all and let people make their own minds up about what they like (which is why my FAQ has a link to blender right underneath the one to TS).

Blender is the easiest thing in to whole world to use, but it leaves a lot to be desired. If you can make it seem a bit more 'grown up' then you're on to a winner.
And cheers Raa, I'll poke it later and hope for the best
[EDIT] Er... the roate view/rotate objest button, I can't seem to find it/them. Where should I be looking? This always the problem with TS, someone says 'click the whatever button', and you look at the hundreds of buttons and say 'er, what?'. Even with a description of the button it's still a needle and haystack job
-
view bittons (zoom, rotate etc) are in the bottom right corner.
rotate object is on the task bar at the bottom (default) of the screen, towards the left.
have you got the help text on ? a pop-up box should tell you which icon box is which .
-
**** this, I'm just going to reinstall TS

betters still, FCUK this, I'm just going to install somethin' else.
-
I got Max and Lightwave as well. But they scare me. I won't tell you how I got them or this thread will get locked.
-
Same here. :p
If you have trouble with TS, ICQ me some time...
-
The third problem is unsolvable.
Lights arent considered part of a mesh. They stay in place.
Solution remove lights from hiarchy or put them all at o,o,o position so it doesent screw the dimensions.

The locations may be off, I moved stuff, but the buttons look like this:

aye kant drwar hwiht a mo0se...
-
Ah, found them Nice one Raa. Now I just need to get together the mental courage required to actually work on the damn model.
As for the lights and the resizing, it's still doing it with a fresh install. So I guess there's a **** up in the way I've built the model (it's made from lots of small bits, see)
-
Edit: wrong thread
-
OK, this might sound daft but how do I add the point edit toolbar (the one with add vertice and so forth) to my, er, toolbars? I used to have it there, but since I reinstalled it's gone and I can't for the life of me work out how to get it back...
-
IIRC you right click on one of the buttons to open it up. Same with the polygon draw bar.
-
Ah, got it. Nice one.
