It's late, I'm bored, it's a long time since we had one of these, and I've found a pic that sums up my home town very well.
Note the pathetic Christmas decorations, the patchy road, and the general squalor. This was taken Christmas 1999, I do believe.
It was on some Tripod site, so I've taken the liberty of liberating it.
This is why I spend so much time online, that's the alternative.
-
By God that's grim. Look at the face of that woman in the bottom left if you need further proof. Here's my gaff in deepest darkest Leicestershire:
Those curtains have not been opened in over 18 months
-
Insure them. You need to find some way to make financial gain from them.
Also, what's the idea of those white blocks?
-
Pidgeon traps
See that bush in front of the window? That's the one that we chopped down and burned, if anyone remembers the videos. The evil bastard's grown back now.
-
I've seen better pigeon traps. Those 6-inch spike things you can get.
I do remember that video, you should have a repeat performance.
Hell, I've found some photos that I took shortly after getting the camera. They make the town look slightly less grim, but not much.

Whoah. One of these. I feel so honoured. :D

The view from my house (more or less - a location very nearby to get some trees out of the picture):

Jerusalem's industrial zone:

I always forget what these buildings are called:

If you keep clicking the thumbnails, you can view what it looks like now without it changing. Our Town Centre is having, millions spent on it, to make it look good, especially Bridge Street. Sadly, skateboarding is banned, because what they've done is so perfect for skateboarding.

Okay.. so it's not really.. but when i get my digital camera back from being repaired by sony.. (either repaired, or i get a new one from them)
i'll take some photos of Devonport...
-
Well, my town kicks ass. Why?
She came from it.
-
Lori Petty (or what ever her name was)?
That makes you famous by proxy, Thunder
-
Oh no, the girl didn't (shame) but Tank Girl did. It's creators were a couple of guys who lived on the far side of town.

I live in Kidderminster which is/was the carpet capital of the worls, and if that isn't something to be proud of, well then I don't know what is. However, everything around here is registered as green belt so it's only a five minute walk to some of the most beautiful countryside I know, plus, there are trees. THE TREES, they are EVERYWHERE.
Et Voila (http://www.01905.com/photos-kidderminster.htm)
and also, the ugliest building ever created.

Tried to find pictures of the forest up the road but could only find this:

I have no idea who that is.

If anyone is wondering where the heck Willmar is. It's that red star to the left. And if you can't find minnesota, then that is just sad. :blah:
-

[q]My hat goes off, sir [/q]
Does it do that often?
Anyway...
I shall take my digi camera to work/Uni 2morrow.
-
I'll have to take a picture of the SUV with ETAK on its side parked at some house on the way to college.
-
I didn't even know DG had a hat..............
-
I stole it from Petrarch. It's a giant stetson
-
That cat has wings!
Probably, it's been dead for a year now , old pic :)

Ah. I thought it was a bowler hat, with a small indentation on the top, upon which floats a single cherry in a pool of ether.
Silly me.
-
You probably saw my trilby in a bad light and jumped to conclusions
-
Ah. Well, that's trilbys for you. noisy little buggers, you can't turn your back on them for a minute.
Oh, wait. That's furbies....
-
I had that problem. Walking around with a chirping little electronic ceature on your head tends to provoke much consternation.

Liverpool Lime Street clock scared me.
-
Did it nick your wallet too?
-
I believe it was in league with the people who tried. As I sat mesmorised by the minute hand, they made advances towards me.
-
Calm down
-
Ach well, if you give a clock hands, it'll use them.
-
Well at least everything is not as depressing here Graham, wanna come down sometime :P
-
[q]wanna come down sometime [/q]
Is it me or am I seeing some form of pick up line? :wtf: :p

Oh, I didn't find Liverpool depressing (I'm too damned insanely optimistic for that), I just found it unsettling, as I do with any large and crowded place.:)
-
Liverpool is l33t. Better than Manchester, which sucks.

:D I didn't recognise the aerial shot (couldn't see the Sydney Harbour Bridge or Centrepoint Tower), but there's only one Opera House in the world that looks like that. :D
-
The Chipping Sudbury Opera House you mean? They hold a cracking village fete there, you know
-
The one and only. ;) They hold a lot there, it's an awesome place to go - best dramatic theatres in Sydney, I say. ;)
-
Yes, but does it have morris dancing and hooplah?
-
...I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to divulge these facts at the present time. :blah: Nah, actually, I have no idea... haven't been there for at least a year. :)
-
I really need Petrarch in this thread right about now...

I got lazy and forgot my camera today, so here's something I sourced from the net:
My University ("http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/images_gcaluni.html")
Cenotaph in George Sq. ("http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/images_cenotaph.html") (read the inscriptions)
Buchanan Galleries ("http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/images_buchanan_galleries.html") (Major shopping venue in city centre)
Sunny Glasgow ("http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/images_glasgow_sun.html")
