Okay, I'm gonna have a big sleepover after my final high school exams finish, and we plan to go crazy with lots of DVDs. So I want suggestions - what DVDs have you guys watched recently that are good, and include a highlight. ;)
The date for the sleepover is November 18, so you can include any stuff that will be released before then (for example, Reloaded).

Actually they had 'em all the time. New Line Cinema just didn't like the full length so they had to cut out something.
-
Bah... 225 minutes isn't that bad... ;) Cool, will remember that.

you know, they've done the same with the first one and will do the same with the last one ;)
I recommend... mmh... dunno. shaolin soccer ( it's funny, even if you don't like football )?
-
Equilibrium (http://www.scifiuk.com/main.asp?inmovie=equilibrium.swf[/url) It's sort of a cross between the future of Minority Report and the gun play of the Matrix :)

That's marketing for you. I'd better wait it out. :)
Heh, Shaolin Soccer... that movie makes sooo little sense (I own a copy, btw ;)).
Thanks for the link, Kara. Gun-kata, eh? Interesting... I'll see if I can find it in the local video rental, I don't remember it ever coming into our theatres.
-
It was out for all of a week here. :( Bloody cinema execs.....
As for movies to watch:
Pulp Fiction (duh)
The Killer (cool, ultra-violent HK action film)
The 51st State (hilarious gangster film set in Liverpool, with Robert Carlyle, Samuel L Jackson in a kilt and Meat Loaf!)
Enjoy! :D
-
Some good DVD staples of excellent action movies for such events as these.
- The Rock
- Sum of All Fears
- Matrix (and Reloaded)
- Lord of the Rings
- If you like slightly quirky Sci-Fi action then The Fifth Element is great
:)
-
Battle Royale!
-
I have got to see that. And the sequel....
-
Equilibrium, 28 Days Later, and The Count of Monte Cristo remake are all well put together and great fun.
-

[color=66ff00]Equlibrium is a good call, fantastic movie.
Some of my favourites that I can't really talk enough about are The Last Starfighter and The Fifth Element. Other than that, Usual suspects and K-pax are cool. :)
BTW have a good one whatever you watch.

fifth element is actually really good. but I'm a sucker for bessons movies. Leon especially.
-
The SE LoTR movies are suppossed to be being released in the movies before the final one is out, I think. Though i'm not sure how anyone could stay sat in a theater for 4 hours, regardless of how good the film is.........
Incidentally, Face (Robert Carlyle, Ray Winstone) is a damn good film - basically a Brit gangster thriller, with arguably the best ending in history :) might be a bit rare, though - check the bargain bins

 And to think I'd almost forgotten - Derek Z will definitely be on there. ;) Guys, these lists are all great, keep em coming... but if they're not worldwide releases (or they're more than five years old), post a summary or a highlight or something... :p
-
I'm going to add my name to the list of Equilibrium fans. See, you know how 1984 was a somewhat disturbing view of the future? And you know how the Matrix was deeply cool on multiple levels? Well this is better cos it's got Christian Bale in it
-
1984 was very somewhat disturbing. :shaking: I like the book better, actually.
Btw, BW, I'm not going down to schoolies - I'm too poor for it, I'm spending money on church camps and the like instead. ;) Yourself?
