Has anyone else seen this anime? I discovered it a few months ago and immedietly realised how exceptional it is - the point of this thread being to spread the word about it! I strongly suggest everyone check it out if they like a little comedy in their anime, along with some top class animation and music to go with it. Not to mention an inspiring storyline. It may be short (6 episodes) but by god it rocks.
Go watch!
-
yeah, I've seen it. It's odd :p
Not sure I liked it, to be honest, it's way too "high" for me ( and the subs are really difficult to read during the speedy moments ). But I can understand some people love it.
-
I got a bit weirded out when all those robots grew out of his head and fough each other and ate him and then shat him out.
Very enjoyable, though. :D

Ride on shooting star!
-
Well, I agree that it's hard to keep up with - definitely fast paced as opposed to something slower and more spread out such as Evangelion (it's also not as deep as Evangelion but nevermind). I just loved all its style and if you see it several times to get the plot it becomes so much better because you can just watch as opposed to concentrating on reading!
-
I didn't like it. Everyone says it's good but I didn't like it one bit. :p
-
Why not? (No arguement, just curious)
-
Thanks for the hint K, I'll check it out
I'll give you a recommendation in exhange
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu :D
(Venom can propably back me up in this one ;) )
-
If you think Gainax made Furi Kuri damn weird, check out the Excel Saga series by them.
Jack
-
FLCL has to be the weirdest anime I've ever enjoyed.
It is very deep, and most of the freneticness of the pace of storytelling is to keep the average veiwer from realizing their watching something deep.
-
Sounds like an interesting name. :D
Maybe after I finish downloading every Stargate SG-1 episode in existence (damn you, Styxx! :D), I'll look for FK eps. ;)
-
Do it! There's only 6 of them, but don't let that fool you. The entire story is told well.
-
Kalfireth, a good question. I am not too sure myself, perhaps it was style of the anime...
Excel Saga on the other hand is better, especially later episodes. Don't forget to watch Puni Puni Poemi which is made by same guy. ;)
Sorry for going a little off topic, but has anyone here seen Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu anime? Just gotta love the series and the comedy. :D
-
I've seen FMP, waiting for Fumottu (my friend has it... so I need to pay a visit ;) )
It's a great series, really fantastic
A must see for all anime fans out there ^_^

Excel Saga isn't from Gainax, I believe.
Thunder, you can't really compare FLCL to eva, there's, well, nothing to compare lol :D
Steak: yeah, the name itself is a mistery, and source for many puns in the anime ( fully cooly? :p )
Aki: Jungle? Hell yeah :D one of the funniest things I've ever seen :D ( and I'm not even talking about the deluxe :p )
Mr. Fury: Puni Puni Poemi, now that's something :p The dude with the afro really cracks me up :D
As for Fumoffu, yeah, I've seen the first few episodes, it's comlpletly different from the first series, but really fun :) "Fumo?"
-
i heard furi kumi from somewhere but i must check if i can find it somewhere
-
I need to stop watching anime.
right...
-
The current theory is that the title is actually a corruption of some naughty activity involving a woman's chest.;7
Also, as you watch it, remember that there is a thematic reason that all the "horns" are kind of phallic looking and all the robots except Kanti(Chanti?) are hand shaped.

If you've seen the manga, they give so many different explanations ( yup, the character manga themselves :p ) that it's... hargh, I just forgot about the pb and thought about something else :p
for me it's furi curi or flcl, and nothing else :D
-
Meh, either way it's a great program and well worth watching if you ask me - whatever you get out of it.

Evangelion in a Nutshell:
EVA pilots: "We have no sense of self-worth but do what we're told! Ha-ha!"
Adults: "We are jaded and will use everyone around us to further our own ends! Ha-ha!"
Angels: "We are here to break things! Oh no I'm dead! Ha-ha!"
Repeat until everything destroyed except folding chairs.

...
That's signiture material right there. Trouble is, I can't refute what you just said.
-
I've just finished Witch Hunter Robin and am currently working through LastEXILE.

Raaaaah, Last Exile.
My all time favourite anime.
right now I'm watching Ikkitousen, outlaw star, Naruto, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Ebichu, Full Metal Panic Fumoffu ( altho they're coming veryyyyy sloooowwwwwly :p ), onegai twins ( which sux, but heh ), and that's it.
-
LastEXILE was pretty good, although I didn't particularly liked the ending. It should have been more interesting.
I don't know whether one should hate or love the days when you're bored. But one day I made a database of my anime. :D :p
Right... (http://htklx2.htk.fi/~keeper/Anime.html)
Hrmph... gotta update that soon, D.N. Angel, LastEXILE and Stellvia of the Universe are missing some info.
-
You have a nice list :)
Where the hell did you get the Tenchi Muyo movies? "curses kazaa"
I see you bught the DVD of Hoshi no koe, so, I heard the version dubbed by the auithor and his wife wasn't in it after all ( it was planed for the Z1 edition ), is that true?

You live in the middle of the source. I'd be surprised if........someone like you didn't have any.
As for me, all I'm interested in right now is Macross Zero. And Green Green. And Yukikaze. Maybe that new FMP.
-
Allmost forgot - animes are either total crap or works of wonder. The middle is very rear...
My personal favorite - VoE , naturally!:D:
(If you watched the censored&snipped version on Fox, then I pitty you....Christ - they mutilated the series without reson..)
-
Macross zero, the third episode should come next month.
Yukikaze, I have the second episode half downloaded :)
-
:nervous: So much anime! The closest stuff to anime I really have is the Animatrix (which I've been re-watching recently because I heard a really good Matrix theory recently)...

well, animatrix is anime ;)
save for the last flight of the osiris ( which is from Square USA ), it's all japanese stuff ;) ( man, a detective's story is even from Watanabe - Cowboy Bebop )

Detective's Story rocks. ;) Actually, now I'm really tempted to post my whole Matrix theory, but it fits so well, I think it could actually be a spoiler... :nervous:

Yeah, that's my second favourite, beyond being the first one ( I don't count flight of the osiris, it's not the same category to me ).
-
i think i sell all my bad animes and buy some more manga

It's almost like a film noir, though... maybe that's why I like it so much. Well, I only rented the DVD, I think I'll buy it when I go and get Reloaded so that I can re-watch Beyond (hardly remember it).
Hmmm, alright Gloriano... you're on, I'll post it up. :drevil:
-
wohooo
-
Aaaaand done. I think it's a pretty good theory, personally... :)
-
Detective's Story sucked. Yes, it was dripping with noir, and was interesting up until the point where he found Trinity. Then it just fell to pieces.
Why did Trinity even agree to meet this guy when she'd apparently been through this routine many times before, all with tragic results for the investigator involved? And since when can you resist being taken over by an Agent?
Bleah.

Yeah, that was my biggest gripe with it all, actually. Still, I liked the way it told the story, I guess. :)
-
heh, maybe Trinity knew he had something special, like that "will" to resist agents. Anyway, I don't care about that, the problem is trivial, the thing remains cool.
-
Yeah, that's more than a little special. Like nobody can do that except people that aren't physically plugged into the Matrix. This makes our detective potentially more powerful than even Neo. Yet Trinity was all, "See ya!"
Bah, I say.
-
No? As far as I know, they can't take trinity, neo or any other over, or they'd have done it already, don't you think?
-
You might want to read my post a little more carefully.

Me? Nope, I haven't bought a single anime DVD or VHS so far.
-
Yep Detective Story and Beyond were my favourites too in Animatrix. The character style in Beyond was not exactly my taste but animation was smooth and good.
*snif* Gits - SAC ends soon... damn that was a good series.
Hey if you would like to see some extra cute and sweet stuff watch Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar. No hard issues, no violence, easy to watch. A nice series ^^
Of course I must recommend Gundam SEED too, it's been licenced so DVD's (not HK bootleg ones) should be found on stores pretty soon I hope.
-
GitS-SAC ends soon? It's got 52 eps if I remember correctly and only 22 are fansubbed.
-
Nope, SAC won't end anytime soon, it was planed as a 26 episodes series, but had so much sucess they've decided to make a second season. Me is happy :D
Mr. Fury: well, I assumed that since in your table, in the last row, it's said "DVD" :p
-
Furi kuri? One of the weirdest Japanese animes I have ever seen. Don't understand what is going on.

"DVD+R". :) Meaning that I have burned that series to DVD+R discs. I have numbered my anime DVD+R discs so that I can find the eps I am looking for when necessary. :D
About time I updated that list. What pissed me the most that I had forgotten to write down how much X-series file size was, had to copy the files to hard drive from two DVD+R discs to found out. :p
