Title: Justify my love people...
Post by: vyper on October 15, 2003, 03:11:58 pm
And help me out.

My system is current sharing a single IRQ across 6 devices.
When I'm connected to a network (dialup) connection, and attempt to launch something like Macromedia Director, or any other large application, the system goes BSOD "IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL".

Now, I've not graduated with my Computing degree yet but I'd bet a Subway roll that this shared IRQ is the source of the problem. However Win2k does not allow the resources of said sharing devices to be altered. I tried manually setting the IRQ to reserved in the Bios, but win2k ignored me! :wtf: Um... little help?

Win2k almost always tries to stuff all devices on to one or two IRQs (My laptop has 11 different devices on IRQ9, and my home system has 6 devices on IRQ9 and four on IRQ6).  This is normal behaviour.

I would suspect your problem is NOT the IRQs. If you really think it is, the easiest thing (assuming you're a techie sort). Pull all the devices (except the video card) out of the machine and start adding one card at a time. Test after you add each card. If it crashes, pull out that card and set it aside and continue on. You'll probably find the problem device (though, as I said, I don't think this is your problem).
