Title: Dude! What's up with my MAX
Post by: Stunaep on October 17, 2003, 01:57:51 pm
This is certainly weird. All my enviroment effects stop showing up after reaching the horizon line in the camera.

Example:

Picture 1: A Starfury, so that it is above the camera horizon

Picture 2: Now it's below.

It's the same frame, the same settings, all I did was truck the camera.

Maybe the lights (presumably) are occluded just enough by the Fury to make MAX think it doesn't need to do them.

unlikely, but if that is the case, recommend a way to make Max think otherwise?

yes it does, and as you see on pic 1, it is glowing behind objects. The engine glow lights are behind the object. Not visble. But you still see the glow.

But on pic 2. you don“t

There's a Render Occluded thing on the render-config panel thingy somewhere. I have no idea what it does, but it sounds like it'd be worth a try.

problem solved. for some god damn reasone, max refuses to render volume lights, unless there is an object in the background.

So I just made a huge frollickin' plane and made it transparent.
