Fleetwars is trying to become Squadwar for Freespace Open. for those that don't know Squadwar, it means having teams of pilots fighting eachother in scheduled matches to controll systems on a nodemap. using FSO, we hope to create such a league. Kazan is almost ready with his PXO subsitute for FSO, and beta testing the FW concept using Freespace retail is underway too. we just need more people to help. we can use coders for both the changes in the FS code, and PHP lords to help us get a database up and running. FREDders are welcome too, to create templates for the matches. Moderators are wanted too, for obvious reasons. beta testers are always welcome, and even if you only go to the forum to annoy us about things you want you might be of help. we have a website up and running, and a forum over at NW. when we get this thing going, we will perhaps include the following goodies:
- fully automated system, meaning that as long as the server runs, this could go on forever.
- ability for Squad Leaders to create their own MODs and use them ingame
- ability for Squad Leaders to move their forces across the map using a PHP interface
- when a Squad owns more systems, they get more resources, to build more ships
- capships and stations has homes for squads
- all the new and special SCP graphics, like spec maps,glow maps and all the other cool stuff you already know about.

i know i'm spamming, but we really, really need help. and if we do get this working, we could get all the SW nuts back to FS2, meaning increased traffic in the community.

I don't mean to sound apathetic or anything but I can't be arsed to get involved with at this devlopment stage. When you have a working, stable product up then I'll be looking in to it.

but if someone is interested in helping us, we would appreciate any help.

but, since thier idea is consisting out of 3 word documents and a lot o0f hope, we ignored them and we're trying to et this working.

i didn't know about another one, but enlighten me please.

Post by: kasperl on November 06, 2003, 12:56:13 pm: well, the EA/AD lot is rather unfriendly, i flew with EA for a month or so, but they're not really a group to work with, since they're kinda obssesive about leadership.

edit: everyone is free to come and join us though, don't get me wrong, but in my time with EA, theere where two leadership changes (not volunteered by the original) a few lost members, and no actuall matches.
