ok, i need some graphic artists to get their butts in gear
I need a splash screen for FreeSpace Developer Studio - ie one of those little image screens a lot of programs put up during initialization - such as PSP, MS Dev Studio, Eclipse, etc
if you're not familiar with FS Dev Studio - it will be an integrated fs project environment - VP builder/editor (inheriting code from VPCS with improvements), new integrated POF editor (inheriting code from PCS with improvements), Mission Background Utility (once again inheriting), syntax hiliting table editor (maybe even eventually a parser to load it all up into nice data tables and verify a group of tables are valid / generate code off what you tell it)
The contest is open until further notice the best design(s) will be chosen to be used as the splash screen(s) [i can use more than one on a random or rotating selection]

Hm... Tomorrow after school I'll try. Am Busy ATM (Of course, not enough to stop browsing the forum. )
-
Not promising anything, but I'd think it would be wise to at least specify what size you would like the image.
-
oh yeah 500x330 pixels
anything freespace
oh yeah - dc submitted http://swooh.com/peon/DragonClaw/public/freespacedevstudio.jpg
-
hurrr... adjusted size

Not bad. After school today i'll give it a shot. I'm hoping my swooh hosting goes through today so I can upload my SCP icons as well.
-
The red text is a bit randomly placed, other than that I like it!

General suggestions to potential submitters:
1) Wireframe and/or wireframe->textured model shots are good for this kind of stuff
2) Collages (blending of multiple seperate images together) are the ideal thing for splash screens
3) Less is more
Hope that helps! :D

/me likes sandy's suggestions

/me is working on one now. Will post in a few moments.

Dammit. My lunarcell is acting up again and I have nothing I can think of to get decient wireframes from. I've tried all the basic stuff, but no luck.
I'm just gonna have to sit this one out.
-
if you want wireframes, download some version of modelview, and use print screen.

lol, iv got some photoshop skills...
ill give it a try when i have the time
-
And this is why projects never get done... :p
Its actually quite funny, albeit sad if you think about it :drevil:

I'll work on one when I get home... something that doesnt involve particles would be a nice change from what I've been trying to do recently..
HV seems to murder render times, no matter the complexity... my old machine could render em faster....

Works for me, I like that! Might be better if you had all the text on one line and did away with the underlining?

Not enough room for a single line of text... would have to make it so small you could hardly read it. (its hard to read as it is anyway)
-
:wtf: No it's not. You must be one of those people with their monitor on max res...

I like it, but in my vision, it'd look even better with a collossus instead, and the wireframes on the right side.
-
if you have trouble reading that then you have a serious vision problem -- the text is large at 1600x1200
