I get to the end of the mission, but no matter what I do, when I click on "End mission", the screen goes into widescreen mode and everything just sits there. Workers continue reepairing ships, everything goes on as normal - but the mission doesn't end.
Any ideas?
-
It doesn't like you.
-
I don't like you.
-
do you have the Patch?
-
I was kinda hoping to be able to get it running w/o patching the game up, since it warns me about savedgames possibly being invalidated.
-
yeah, your right the Patch will invalidate the missions...err you know it's never happened to me before so i don't know how to deal with it. why don't you ask their technical support.
-
technical support will always make you patch your game before they'll even start discussing anything with you anyway, so its pretty pointless.
-
Well, I used to get the problem (you get it in HW2 as well, only not as bad). It sometimes means you have completed the mission objectives in the wrong order, and the scripting gets confused, it's actually quite strict :)
Flipside :D
-
or you can lie to them and say its patched.
-
Don't forget, they'll tell you to update your drivers and possibly even BIOS as well as demanding patchage. Bastards.
-
Does anyone have a HWC mission 15 savegame file from v1.01? I'd rather not have to replay the whole freaking thing... :-/
-
That's the one where you've got to recapture the Clee-San right?
I've had this happen a time or two, I like HW:C better than the original you see. The way I fixed it was to redo the mission.
Failing that, go back to the autosave from the end of the previous mission. The script does get confused, but if it does it more than once, that means it's confuse from the start.
If you haven't already, assign each ship type to a quick key.
Strike Craft - 1(1 squadron of 10)
Multi-Beam Frigate - 2(4-5)
Destroyers - 3(as many as you can afford SU wise after the Dread and Tai stuff)
Dreadnought(1) and any captured Taiidani stuff - 4(If done right, you can have 3 Ti HCs by the end of the game)
Repair - 9
Carriers - 8(I always leave my carriers to give the CS a little fire support)
-
Actually, 15 is the one where you stop the Bentusi from escaping.
And I've had a captured HC since M6, and the 2 "captured" destroyers on loan from my allies since a few missions ago... cool thing is, the HC only takes ~30 SUs, and the destroyers ~6 (as opposed to the dreadnaught at ~90 and my destroyers at 38). :p
-
The main problem with the captured ships is that regardless of class, they can all be subverted.
-
What, by the Beast?

Erm...no, anything smaller then a destroyer can't be converted over to the beast.
-
yeah it can ... beast cannon depends on ammount of SU's :)
-
I played it allot and they never converted my ships from destroyer class up.
-
Destroyer class upwards only take damage, says so somewhere in the game, once you've researched the Beast organism anyway :)

So that's why you never reply to my IMs...

never had any trouble myself.
any Tidan ship can be sub-verted. Lost a cruiser and 3 destroyers to one blast.
-
Even the Tai Heavy Cruisers are vulnerable to Subversion. So it's good to keep them in the back of the Battle Group.
Your big ships only take damage because the Captains flood the infected decks with drive plasma, incinerating the infected stuff.
-
yeah but that only applies to Dreadnoughts and your own destroyers. I prefer Taidan ships.
"Got it. Headin' in!"
-
Meh. Beat the game. I found a stash of savedgames for download.
-
Oh, boy.
Here we go again.
Ships that can be subverted:
- All Soomtaw ships (except CS, Dread, Desty, Carrier)
- No Kushan ships (except for Heavy Corv)
- No Taii ships (except for Heavy Cruiser and MGC)
- Turanic Raider ships (exceptions: Outpost, Carrier, Standard Corv)
- Bentusi tradeships (they turn into Acolytes :D )
- Other Beast ships ('cept MS and Carrier/Heavy Cruiser)
The designers did not add in subverted skins for all of the ships in the game, or the files would be ridiculously large and numerous. Thus, all that are not mentioned above take damage from an infection attack.

Ahem...
"The Deacon's baptism of fire came at the battle of Coruc Farr, when two Somtaaw Destroyers were left alone to hold off a Beast Heavy Cruiser and a full flight of infected strike craft. In the thick of battle, the lead Destroyer, the Naar-Tel, closed with the beast cruiser and was raked by an infection beam. As deck after deck of the Destroyer fell to the Beast infection, the Naar's Captain made a desperate decision to vent drive plasma into the infected areas and then out into space. At the cost of gutting a quarter of his own ship and killing a sizable percentage of his own crew, the Naar's Captain was able to keep his ship in the battle and help destroy the beast Cruiser.
From that day on, the Naar Directive, as it became known, became the standard response from Allied heavy capital ships to Beast infections. And, while the price in Hiigarian life is always high, instant death in a blast of high-energy plasma is preferable to the twisted immortality of becoming part of the Beast."

HW:C rocked compared to the original HW. Better graphics, better voice acting (Wow they actually had feelings in their voices!), better mission scripting, better more involving storyline, etc, etc.
Mission 15, easy, just hurt the bentusi a bunch after you waste the Hspace gate

Careful how loudly you proclaim the greatness of HW:C. There are places where you'll start a flame war. Quickly!

I wasn't having a problem figuring out how to beat the level, I was having a problem figuring out how to make it end after I had beaten it - there was a scripting bug or something.
-
hmmm...dunno...I had to patch my HW:C for it to even work! So..I never got any bugs on my version.
-
I still think HW2 is the best so far. Very dificult on some missions imo.
-
Missions are extremely difficult (Mission 4 and 12 are no exceptions). The interface is slightly different than what most HW veterans are used to, but its still a good game.

which missions are they ? Haven't played it for ages.

:wtf:
This is HW2 we're talking about here.
Four I can't remember, Twelve has to do with the shipyard.
-
oh, yeah, wasn't paying attention.
:nervous:
