Before anyone mentions it, I already visited this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,4534.0.html), and I have slight problems. To begin with, in my extreme newbieness, I am not even sure what 3D Exploration is. Could anyone enlighten me? [I searched for it a bit in GMax, and I did not found it]
Finally, what should I EXTACLY do to export models from GMax, and then to TrueSpace [as, IIRC, TrueSpace is necressary for this]? Call this a guide for dummies [or newbies;) ], but I want to be sure that I will not screw anything up.

Ignore this, I managed to deal with the problem, and have the thing in LithUnwrap.
Everything is fine, I'll soon finish the thing, and I'll show you my first attack cruiser, complete with new weapons.:)

Right. Abandoned Thread. Everybody spam. :p
Err... another GMaxer! W00t! :)

Not extacly abandoned... I might put other technical questions here, if I could edit the thread title. We'll see...
BTW, is 393 polys for a capship too little? It looks a little boxy, but it isn't bad, and there isn't a whole lot of stuff you can add [note: this figure do not include turrets, but they aren't going to increase this massively; it will be 500 polys at most].
And yes, GMax is fairly nice. I would use full 3DS Max, but it don't work.:(

Hmmm... as a general rule, capships should be greater than 393, especially if they're bigger than cruiser size, but really, if you've got a design you like, that fits into 400 polys, go with it.
NB - we could give more detailed critique if you'd post a screeny)

Well, at least it is cruiser sized. I think that, when textured, it will look nice for a first try [actually, a first try was a fighter, but it was a rip-off of a low-poly fighter from 3DS Max tutorial, so it do not count].
As for screenie: no problem, if there is anyone willing to host it. I do not have any place to put it on at the moment.

Lol. It helps if I remember I made the offer... Here:

and...

It is a little boxy but then so is the Fenris which this definately resembles :)
Good texturing could solve the problem of boxyness. Recommend you keep using Lith for more than just converting the model :D

Makes me think of the Faustus, too...

You may look into a little bit of poly reduction, but it looks pretty good. I'm assuming you want to mirror the textures across the centerline when you get to that stage.

Has anyone figured out a way to get aroung gmax's texture limitations? So far all my textures, regardless of quality, display as 256*256 max.
