Ok, here is the GTVA Interceptor for CIM. Coments are welcome of course.
Also, I know you usually don't like to see the models with smooth shading, but this one looks so cool with it IMO that I had to show it up :)

Also, expect some inactivity regarding new models for the next weeks... cause I'm mainly trying to come up with cool designs and seeing how they go in 3d, and only then I will show them...

I know Truespace supports smoothing groups, so maybe regroup the insides of the engines so we're not getting a blob effect back there? However, that model is otherwise excellent. Draws heavily from several existing ships, but that's not a bad thing....

Looks good, looks like maybe even a little Shivan tech was thrown in. :drevil: Excellent work. :)

That's not necessary, this is just to show it on pics... well you get the picture of the ship, right?? :)
-
its the perseus on crack, me likes
-
looking good
-
GTF Auxesia? Nah.
Perseus Mk II? Definately.
/me likes
-
Actually Raven, smoothing is ultimately very necessary. Take a look at the DatDB internal and you'll see what I mean. Freespace can handle some smoothing (anyone know how many groups by chance?) and it helps immensely when the ship needs to not have every facet showing.
-
Thats looks so fine ^^, and also i think: this ship have some Shivan inspiration
-
Real nice mesh there, man, but Auxesia? Don't you remember our Red vs Blue?
[q]Simmons: Why Warthog, sir?
Sarge: 'Cos M12-LRV's too hard to say in conversation, son.[/q]
Meant to be easy to say. ;)
-
It's like a Herc + Perseus with Mara. 1337
-
Deffinitely FreespaceY.
-
Get's my seal of approval. Captures the FS2 look perfectly in my opinion. You could happily leave that whole model smoothed. I can't see anything there you'd want to facet.
-
It also has that modular feel. I dunno, you could stick oversize pods or bits around the back end there. Totally optional of course.

I think he means just for the plain untextured mesh - normally with smoothing it's harder to make out the shape.

Ok, say after me: "Au-cse-zia"! See, easy!!! :D (sorry, but I kinda forget that some languages aren't so much advanced in terms of phonetics like portuguese... honest!)
BTW (IIRC):
Simmons: But Warthog? It looks more like a puma!
Sarge: A Puma?? What kind of animal is that? Are you kidding me boy? :D
Aldo: Exactly what I meant

Auxesia sounds gay, tho.
"runs"
-
*shocked* No it doesn't!!! *shocked*
Ah, WTF, everything sounds gay in French, if you ask me!!! :P Really hate that language (no offense)
-
Is it greek? If it is, then its a good name for a Terran ship.
I like it alot, I think the textures will probably help define the vessel ultimately...it seems very complicated underneath, thats the only thing that I find detracting from an overall beautifully designed mesh and vessel!
-
Yep, Auxesia is greek or roman, not sure which...
All my fighters will be textured when anyone who can draw them helps me out...

No offense taken, but still it sounds gay :p
Anyway, I think it's really time we get away from that "greek naming convention" thinguy, it makes no sense. Heck, all those ships don't even come from the same manufacturers, and as much as Vasudan like egyptian names, I can't see why they would take names like that, don't they have their own mythologies and stuff?
F22 Raptor sounds much better than GTF "put greek name with 3 k and 2 x there" to me :p
-
Err.. names of birds and **** like "dagger.. longsword" get old to me.
-
or we can use norse words.. like um..

GTD Bor on station :D;7

Because every other spacesim has unimaginative names such as Raptor, Broadsword, Arrow, Mad Cat, etc. (Okay not Mad Cat, but some games are so generic you get the ships mixed up with Battletech)
GTB Boanerges, GTW Circe, SB Nahema, those are names you're not going to forget, especially since the voice actors pronounce them for you :p
Anyway, the FS naming convention allows for some obscure myth references. Something the unimaginative Hurt//Maim//Kill (Okay too much StarSiege, yet more generic names there though) names of modern arms don't have, it shows pride in their work. ;)
-
Yes, what he said.
Ex. GTG 'Sabre' vs GTG Mjolnir..
GTF 'Eagle' vs. GTF Perseus
GTD 'Long Island' vs. GTD Orion
See the difference?
-
Of course, you're not obliged to pick up plain names like GTF eagle or GTC tard :doubt:
I don't see the originality of picking names in a preset list, but that's just me. I don't see what's so great with having 5 modded ships called the same way either, btw, but that's another pb...

Didn't I tell you to stop makin' up animals?
Anyway, I don't really dislike the name that much, I didn't mean to start up all this. That said, I would certainly download a GTC Tard if it were ever released. :nervous:
