Deciding the Vasudans needed a new cruiser, I began to design this. This is a basic design plan, not the finished model. I just want to see what you guys think of the shape. I've got hundreds more polygons that I can add to it before even basic FS2 starts complaining. If all goes to plan, it'd probably end up as a Vasudan anti-fighter cruiser. There will, of course, be plenty more extrusions I'll add to it, e.g. for forward-facing weapons points.

um.. Vasudan?
that dosn't even look FSy, let alone Vasudanish
-
Oh, bummer ^_^
Are you sure? I thought it looked at least vaguely fish-like...
-
I have that kind of flat nose for the new model of my GVC Somtus.
The side view is quite Vasudanish, but the others are not much.
This is not critism, only I suggest you to make the wings thicker(for example).
-
I'm working on making the 'wings' narrower. That ought to look a little better, since the angle between them and the hull will be greater so they'll look thicker. Then I'll add all the miscellaneous stuff that'll make it look Vasudan ^_^

We are looking forward to seeing some images about the next version :)

Wait no longer, I work fast ^_^

It's getting there!
I think it needs to be a little 'fatter' or at least a little less straight across the top and base. Also, maybe round the 'wing' part of the ship off a bit more. Possibly a subdivide to smooth might solve some of the problems, you're only on 205 polys at the mo, so you've got loads and loads to play with :)
Flipside :D

I'm presuming you mean the front wings - yeah, okay, I'll round those up a bit. It's only a few polygons to get in from that edge anyway, I can just stick some points in, add them to the faces, and trianglate it.
Yeah, I agree with you on the top and the bottom, it needs some more detail. I'll think of something. I'm trying to keep the polygon count fairly low though, since that means you can have a lot more of these things in one mission ^_^
-
Minor modifications done here really - shortened the engine a little, rounded the forward wings a bit more, added a 'scoop' kind of thing on the bottom, and played around with the geometry of the top. Any flat spaces left, I'll put turrets on, which will break up the space. Hopefully a few rotating ones on that nice flat space near the back on the top.

It's rather flat.. for a cruiser especially.
-
That's a point... How about as some kind of heavy fighter? A Serapis evolution thingummy. It might suit that role better, and the polygon count is about right.
-
That'd do.
Oh, btw. Check the aotd internal when you get a chance. ;)
-
I'd better get started texturing it then, I suppose.
And AotD... whoah, something happened!
-
Well, I'd add more detail before texturing it. It could still use more.. deffinition I guess. Right now it kinda still looks like a flat wing dealie with some bumps on it.
EDIT- Check the internal again, por favor. :D

It looks like a Maxi pad... (with wings)
-
Listen... call me crazy if you want, but I'm thinking it looks kinda like a sting-ray, and thus.... would make an AWESOME Ancient escort cruiser.
But I'm just a lurker so.......

The overhead profile is good. But it needs some serious elevation when seen from the front.
