A long time ago I had the idea to have nebula trails coming out the engines of a ship and looking like engine trails. I'm doing this in my campaign Crimson Tide, and all the graphical elements I'm doing will also go to the TVWP if they want them. I've done this:

Now this looks pretty good IMO, but would it be possible to have this be done automatically to make ship trails? Say it's table defined to look for a certain bitmap, then it tiles it behind the thrusters. :nervous:
I wouldn't think it would be too hard to impliment, but I'm no coder, so I don't know anyway.:D

I personally think this would be great for TAP to use, as it's closest to the Homeworld style engine trails.

we had to disable it because it kept causing missile trails to disappear

Yeah, even when I use the nebula trail engine trails, the occasional missile trail dissapears.:nervous:

Even though there was an innitiative to change the whole thing and replace them with some particle based system which is quite good for this kind of thing (smokes and ect.)

The particle version could do so and also twirl around as well as keep moving.
