Ok now here's an interesting link. Here you can check how secure your PC is and if you have viruses on it. It's very usefull me thinks.

I got Norton.:ha:

Visiting GRC (http://grc.com/intro.htm) to test your firewall is a good idea, too.

Norton internet security is good. I used to have NAV 2002 2 days ago but I installed Norman which is much more better. And of course...everything is green on my test results.

But have you ran an adware and spyware scanner?:)
I had no viruses according to Norton, but I had LOADS of spyware, adware, and scumware.

Ok an English reply for this one. Yes..I ran Ad ware with the latest build and upgrades and I am clean. Plus...if anyone here is using a proxy...disable Java because websites that require it can find your REAL IP (even if you are connected to an anonymous proxy). I am using a free program called Proxomitron. It's great. It protects my real IP with ANY proxy....blocks pop-ups, filters websites and with this anonymous proxy server that I am using I have no big difference in speed AND I am practically Invisible on the net. NOW this is what I call TOTAL PROTECTION.
BTW here's the link where you can see if your IP is viewable by others. http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/test_your_ip_nocache

I believe that we are OVER with all this flaming buisness.

Personally it looked more like a joke than an intentional insult or anything.

I believe that is so too. And I'll hold you to that. Bear in mind, however, that I did not just flame you. I merely thought it amusing that there was a link between 'Safety First', and then a little way across the screen, 'Razor'. Razors are sharp, hence they're used to raze stuff.
EDIT: Yeah, what Sandwich said :p

The only method to be secure on the internet is to know exactly how your system is working, what you're running, what ports are out, so on. In other words, be aware. Don't let yourself be caught ignorant. Simple. All this scanning and such won't help when you find that windows looks like swiss cheese to a nmap scan and you don't know how to fix it.
My 2 yen.

can someone remind me of any linux viruses going around lately?
my dad runs ZA on the gateway, and i run RH9 without nothing, or win98SE with norton and ZA.

So what does it have if it's not nothing? :p

jesus, am i in English class or something?
anyhow, i remembered, it does use some standard firewall, but i set it to the lowest level, otherwise some stuff wouldn't work

So there you go, you got it right the first time! :p

Oh jesus... You gotta be kidding!
Product support team I am working in has Norman Internet Control / Virus Control as one of the supported products. Norman is one of the worst security softwares ever! I personally don't recommend this software to anyone, even free softwares are much better. Sygate or ZoneAlarm (fw) free versions and avast or AVG (a-v) free versions for example.
If you've got it running perfectly fine, consider yourself damn lucky.

the title of this thread suggests something about certain rubber items.

i just did my Biology homework before reading this, and i think i don't need to tell you the subject.

I am running it and i have absolutely no problems at all. After I installed it on my machine I found out that I had 4 viruses while NAV 2002 said i have none. So which one's better? It's logical. Plus I read a review which says that Norman 5.60 has the most advanced engine for detecting unknow viruses. More advanced than anything else currently available. Even with Norman installed I have all lights green on the Nortons security test regarding the Anti Virus software which wasn't the case when I had NAV 2002.

Thanks for the link Razor, I've got Norton running on my system, but it never hurts to get a second opinion, even some of the larger companies can be a bit tardy when it comes to updating definitions :)
Flipside :D
