Hey, does anyone have the above? Textured FS2 models in LW format? My trail license on Deep Exploration has expired so I can't convert them myself... any help would be great.
Thanks!
-
Ashrak been p1mpin LW again?
Anyway, I do. But I'm sort of... uhh... possessive about my surface properties I set for the ships
Someone else will prolly send you them anyway, I won't have time to atm(classes in a few minutes)
-
I haven't really ever been able to get the FS2 models into LW with the surfaces.
Thunder: ICQ or AIM me.
-
i have em too......now can someone tell me how the hell do i rotate turrets easily?
-
I've got a fair number of the FS2 models in Lightwave, but by no means all of them. I think I've got the Ares, Argo, Charybdis, Elysium, Hippocrates, Loki, Ma'at, Mentu, Orion, Ravana, Setekh, Typhon, and Ulysses. Others I could convert if necessary, normally I just do it when I want them.
-
cool odyssey could you upload them for us ? ;)
-
Meh... Not if my connection has anything to do with it. But I'll try sometime.
-
sorry but is it so big if you rar it with winrar on max. ? :wtf:
-
I should have a fair few as well, I'll see what I can sort out for you :)
Flipside :D
-
Mik, I've added and sent you a message - everyone else, thanks! Let me know if you can get all of them (which would be great) done...

that would be great if you could share some with me :)
-
Hyup :) I'll see what I can find. Do you need the textures as well, or just the UVMapped models? (You can simply turn the PCX's into BMP's and put them in the same directory to see them) :)

I have about 90% of FS2 models converted into LW models. Plus the maps are edited and addapted to go with my glows. I assume you need them for rendering. Right?
-
Yep, I've as much modelling skill as a slightly mouldy banana. But I'd like to see what LW can do and it'd be best to start with some models I know (and would be using more often than not).

the models are enough ;)

Sweet, I've been searching for LW freespace models for a while. If someone wants to send them to me (e-mail or IRC) I could probably stick them up for download somewhere.
-
I don't have them all. My orion has good surfacing set up but I screwed up the turrets when I was rotating them in modeller(before i figured out an easier way)
I'll let someone with them all give them to you :p
-
Can you post a few instructions on how to rotate them easely?
Oh and by the way Kalfireth...Lightwave is not that easy to learn. Well basics are OK (it should take you a couple of hours) but surface, map, enviroment, effects editing is not really a walk in the park. By the way...which renderer did you use before?
Well here's what I did so far. First you have to convert them into COB and then into LWM (or something like that)
By the way...why don't you use Deep Exploration. It is a good converter too.

I'm sure this isn't the easiest way, but at least it get's the job done.
Load the ship into Modeller. Select the turrets one at a time, and cut and paste them into their own layers. Save, and load up Layout. The turrets should show up as separate object layers. Now, parent all turrets to the ship itself. Almost there, only one little thing left to be done. :) Select one of the turrets, and pick a tool called Move Pivot Point under the Items tab. Now, drag the Pivot Point to the center of the turret and repeat this on all turrets.

Heh, decided to get back into the swing of things, Kal? ;)
-
Hopefully! We'll see how things go, half an hour of fiddling and using a Whitestar model I picked up somewhere yielded a few renders of a Whitestar and a 30mb .avi file of it turning and flying away from the camera. This was all set up before hand but at least I worked out how to render it all (go me!). Heh, anyways...
Razor, I used to render a ship on a black background in Deep Exploration - then cut/paste the image onto its own layer in Photoshop. I then did all the lighting, effects and such in there.
-
Woah Thunder_kalifiret starts again making art;)
i should start showing my own Renders
-
Well nothing certainly yet - but I've got some stuff in the works...

Its Renders, not Renderers... please make an effort to correct this in future posts. It bothers me. :p
Oh, yeah, Kal, if you need a specific model, I can throw it over to you on ICQ or something if you are online when I am... :)

Can't help it around Razor, its just... so... obvious... and... tempting... bah.
Anywayz...
Yeah... I don't really care about giving my surface property work to a few select people. However... There are some people's hands I'd rather have them not fall into :p
-
Enough, I realise that Razor has done things wrong in the past. But stop provoking him and making all these little comments (this goes for everyone, not just DragonClaw). It only leads to flame wars and it's really not worth the hassle. If you can't say something nice, just don't say it. Thanks.

hmm how do you want sending them mail or do you upload them ?
-
I'll Email them to you tonight, what I might even do is convert them to 3DS and a few other styles as well, so that people interested in creating Renders have easy access to them, though something like this would probs need to be discussed for legality reasons.
Flipside :D

ok plz send them to admin[nospam]@forum.nwn-dippelsbach.de without [nospam] ;)
