Does the Geforce4 MX440 support HT&L? I'm trying to find out for a friend who has bought one but doesn't think that it does support it. I'd assume it could since my GeForce3 does.
-
All the GeForce variants support it, even the GeForce4 MX which is little more than a GeForce2 on 'roids.
-
All of the GeForce linup uses a graphical processing unit (GPU). One of the reasons GPU's were developed was for processing HT&L. Later version of the GeForces were better at it (ie. GeForce 2 and up).
-
Actually, the GeForce1 is not capable of HT&L. The concept wasn't put into silicon until the GeForce2 GTS. Not sure how well it works on the Geforce2 though.

My old GF2MX supported HT&L and it did so with ease.

:wtf:
But wasn't the whole selling point of the GeForce1 it's support for HT&L?

You know what: you're absolutely right, AdmiralLSD.
I could have sworn that proper HT&L wasn't added until the GeForce2, but a quick scan through the technology articles on the chipsets reveals that indeed, the GeForce1 had a transform and lighting component.
I feel pretty damn stupid.
