Title: A couple of questions...
Post by: Fineus on November 06, 2003, 06:35:32 am
Hey guys, I'm a little rusty on modding but have a few ideas that nobody has tried yet, anyways..

Firstly, what program is available to compile new .VP files? I'm a tidyness freak and would like to keep stuff in one place ;)

Secondly, what textures can have animations applied to them (ala SCP)? Is it just backgrounds at this stage or is it everything? Also, what method would I use to achieve this?

Thats it for now. Cheers!

Kazans VP Constructor Suite makes VPs. Dunno where you'd download it, but presumably with the rest of hius stuff.

Glowmaps can be animated (with .anis) And I believe straight textures can be animated, but I'm not 100% on that, though it's presumably also with anis.

eheh:)
btw, as far as I know (and I never tested, but I will when I'll do some damage textures soon), animated textures can be done in the way you do thrusters.
now I'm wondering..can you do also animated shinemaps?

well, for example I may want to create a panel with an hole, that let's you see some mech elements, something like the engine of a ferrari, and therefore the animated texture will have those mech elements, with some of them reflecting the light in different ways, wich could be useful to simulate depth.
