In the future, man will fly to the stars in giant pewter starships!

Its a nice pic, but that close, maybe adding more modelled detail is in order?

It looks nice, but those game-sized textures are a bane for any close-up render. :)

yeah i got hugely reminded of the low quality of the ship....but what do you think of the main composition of the render?

The composition is perfect, Ashrak.

the orion does look a bit wierd, the texture looks a bit like it's very randonly bumped and dented, like a giant riot gun worked it over.

(thinks of a lame excuse) well it is a warship

well, a beam would leave a scorchmark, and a maxim would leave a rather large hole.

so, not a good excuse, IMO. and it does look like it's givewrapped or something.

I think that if you're going to go with the Freespace gameplay, dents make things all the more realistic.  Just look at how often AI pilots run in to each other, and they are just in little fighters.  Imagine what happens when they try to do a flyby past a capship.

what i actually did is that this is a referrer to what the SCP splash screen should look like ingame pic ofcourse but this positioning of things ought to look cool.... no?

Whee.

Get michael to model all the holes and stuff. The textures are blurry :p

I asked this a few weeks ago, turns out he never finished it.  What he did finish is awe inspiring tho.

Also you can find the model, as-is, here (http://w1.520.telia.com/~u52019065/Project/Orion.maxscript.exe).

There's a .3ds and a MAX-script file. MAX users should probably try the .ms file instead.

Ashrak...I must say, your rendering skills are improving massively!  Well done!
