Title: FS2 Video problem: HELP
Post by: Annorax on November 10, 2003, 07:01:58 am
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying to get the original retail version of FS2 working on my machine. I'm running a 1.7ghz Celeron with a 128mb GeForce3Ti video card and 256mb system ram...

In the game, I'm seeing lines to all sides of any text, cluttering up my HUD, etc. I'm guessing it's an antialiasing problem, and tried the registry edit fix, and that didn't work. Are there any other known causes of this problem with modern video cards? FS2 worked perfectly with my old 32mb GeForce2MX card...

Any and all help is appreciated....

Hmmm. Which actual registry hack did you try? There are four mentioned in the technical section of my FAQ.

I assume you altered D3DTextureOrigin.

You could try one of the builds of FS2_open. That way you turn off antialiasing in the launcher.

Yeah, it was D3DTextureOrigin... didn't help.

I also tried the latest fs2_open.... won't even run. It dies with some error saying "use new launcher, registry error" or something similar.

Thoughts?

there's a new launcher in the forum somewhere.  there is also one in one of the links in my sig.  either way they are beta and the exes found in my sig are somewhat out of date and buggy

fs2_open still didn't work. FS1 has the same problem.  Are there any other known causes of this problem?

its some anti-aliasing setting.  either turn it off if its on or vice versa.  that may do something

D3DTextureOrigin was the first setting I tried changing... as I understand it, that tweaks the antialiasing..... are there other settings or registry entries I should play with?

I'm thinking about the fs2_open solution here... but I can't get the launcher up and running.... all the default package has is the fs2_open exe and fred2_open... Where can I get the launcher???????????

Should have tried the SCP forum. :D It's only the top thread :D

Click me (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,18775.0.html)

Best way to find the latest launcher is to look for a thread posted by Random Tiger. Almost all of the threads he posts in the SCP forum are related to new builds of the Launcher.
