Title: Problem with the .avi cutscenes and fs_open
Post by: Fractux on November 10, 2003, 02:27:52 pm
OK, well I finally had some timt to sit down and start playing through the missions, and I got to Bosch's first monologue.

Before playing the avi, it will load the mission, and then minize FS2 and then play the avi. So it's all fine up to here.

The problem is that after the avi is finished playing, fs2 won't load up again.

The only way to then play the mission (since it will always play the cutscene) was to then go to the root directory and remove the avi file.

I tried it with 3.5.5 and fs_open_r with the same results, and using the campaing file that is present in 3.5.6b unofficial media vp.

Cheers!

its taking ages to maximize again, but it works here.

Although, if i play with movies, whenever i start FS2 the first time after a reboot, the task will crash (it will basically not even load), i have to kick it, and if i try to start it again, everything works fine, and will work fine on every retry.

Yeah I've been trying to retry it, It worked once out of the 20 times I've tried it so far.

For me, FS2 just gets closed after the movie is played.

Cheers!

Yeah. I've noticed this problem but never remembered to report it. DOH!. If you kill the FS2_open task and then run it again everything works fine again.
When I get the problem it would occur the first time the campaign I was playing came across a new cutscene. I therefore suspect that the problem is probably with FS2 trying to add the cutscene to the techroom list of cutscenes.
It could be that the problem is due to my altered cutscenes table. I'll have to remember to remove that and try again.

Its a known problem, I'm still looking for a fix.
To disable video playback use '-dnoshowvid' flag.
I'll try and spend more time on this and sort it out.
I may want to contact you guys with test exe's if I get anywhere.
Could you all please post your System specs, OS type being the most significant.

Keep me up to date on what you said karajorma
