Not sure if it has something with the SCP, but I try anyway :
In my FS2 version, the file "strings.tbl" contains English, German, but also French language...But in the original FS2 this language can't be selected, as it doesn't appear.
Would it be possible to modifiy it to make the French language selectable ?

go to the fs2 registry entry add an sz name it Language and insert Frensh ;)

Thanks, it works, but not entirely, some buttons are in french, but other are in English with (fr)before their name
(example : an "(fr)Exit" button)

I sent the auto-language selection code to bKtHeG that we use in the icculus.org code. Right now this only works with the English and German versions as I could never find anyone with the French version. The icculus.org code also supports the Polish version but I didn't include that in the patch as there is more to adding that support.
The language detection is based on the checksum of font01.vf which is the only file I was able to find in all versions that is always different. If you want to send me the font01.vf (there may be more than one) from the French version I'll add support for it as well, assuming that the font is actually different. If a language cannot be determined by the checksum then the code falls back on the registry/ini setting.
As far as the (fr) prefix goes that is just on the untranslated strings. Other than translating those strings yourself I don't know what else you can do. Are you using an actual French version or are you just trying out the French language setting? It's possible that the French version, like the Polish version, had another strings.tbl that had the full translations in it. If you are using the HoTU version then you are pretty much stuck as it only contains the English font01.vf so that's not going to help auto detection and of course isn't going to contain a separate strings.tbl. Maybe you can find someone with the original French version and see if theirs works better.
