Really featureless right now, most will be sorted by a texture.
Any ideas of what to add would be good.

Its /supposed/ to be a quick strike anti-capp ship corvette, hence only one Beam cannon at the front, and 4 turrets.
The indent going through the blue part of the ship is a cooling/power system, delivering power to the beam cannon and also being cooled.

The front green area is the most armoured part of the ship.

Ideas/comment/whatever would be nice.

And now i need to look up a bunch of Photoshop tuts.

Well uh.. give it some actual body.. as in make it more than a rectangle. As for where and how, that's up to you. Since it's terran, boxy extruded sections and straight angles are your friend. Just don't over do it. If you want sorta inspiration, just look at the Deimos, which is at heart, a rectangle.

And if I were you, I'd keep it as a cruiser. No need to make it a huge corvette with only 5 turrets or whatnot.

I was thinking of addin 2 more turrets on a form of "wings".
Ala Homeworld 1`s Higarran Destroyer. (had 2 ion cannons under a kind of wing)

I believe he was refering to "Corvette" as in the *actual* definition of corvette.

"Corvette, noun, 1. A small, fast and lightly armed warship, smaller than a destroyer. 2. Formerly a warship, smaller than a frigate, usually armed with one tier of guns. (Old French)"--Websters.

The first definition they refer to is the modern term used with modern warships, the second is actually from the day of Imperial France under Napolean during the Age of Sail.

A modern Corvette is a small patrol ship smaller than a modern Frigate and a wee bit larger than a Cutter.

Those nuts at Volition actually have it all backwards. What :V: calls a "corvette" would actually be a heavy cruiser.

It's been known for some time that V has had their designations completely out of line with what we do in the present navy. But them's the breaks, I guess. ;)

For some reason, the big-ass ships are always destroyers. I s'pose it's cos it sounds better than "heavy multi-role fleet vessel" or something like that.

I still feel the destroyers should be dreadnoughts...

dude, add a place to hold it, and you have a pretty good heavy handgun.

but you could try to make it a corvette, it kinda looks like a diemos. but surely add some poly's, and use them well. detail is always good, and with HT&L, you don't really have to worry about too much poly's

How do you figure that? I have only seen that kinda naming convention in Freespace, no where else.

In the realm of Sci-Fi, a large vessel that combines the role of carrier and battleship is a Dreadnaught, not a Destroyer, although in contemporary definition, Dreadnaught is a term that was replaced by Battlecruiser when the Battleship first made its appearance.

I agree that our Destroyers should be called Dreadnaughts. That is how I am classing them in my campaigns.
