This idea came about because of Star Dragon's wishes to shoot out of launch tubes.
Would it be possible to code something, either via a sexp or other means, to lock the player's flight controls and weapons systems until specified otherwise? This will allow players to be dumped in a 'launch tube' from which they hit afterburners and shoot out. Only after shooting out do they get flight control back. This prevents people cack-handedly smacking into the nearby walls!
This could have other uses, such as a tractor beam locking onto the ship or having the ship suffer a critical systems failure or the like......
T'was just a thought.:drevil:
EDIT: Whoops, thought I was in SCP.....can somebody deal? :D:nervous:

Already do-able. There is a SEXP in the AI section that allows control of a ship to be handed to the AI. There was a thread about it recently (to do with docking after a mission rather than launching but the implementation is similar)

Heh, we could do that bit where they shoot Sean Connery out of a sub missile tube in a little jet pack thingy :D

So it's in the 3.5.5 build? Good good. :) I may have to have some fun with that.........after I optimise this ruddy Base Star......unless I use HT&L, it's the Shards of Death! :D
