Hi, I've recently installed FS2 and after playing it for a while, I thought to take a look of there's any community still alive and kickin'. Well, it's needless to say I was surprised to see you still MODing and hanging around. I'm honestly thrilled abot SCP and how far you guys have come. And of course, as being new, I'm all mixed-up. So let me put it a bit more tidy.
1) How many are the up-to-date releases of FSopen? I have seen that 3.5.5 release, I also have seen (somewhere in the board) something about HT&L release... That's abit confusing.
2) What files do I need to play FSopen with all it's features? I see you only give the .exe for download, but at the same time you talk about hosting the full install at Fileplanet in the spirit of 799 (or something) mb. So what is the difference between the two of them?
3) About that Wiki-thing. When I try to see the 3ds Max section it asks me to sign in which I fail no metter what I do. Do I need to register somewhere or anything...?
Thanks for your time, and plzzz don't shoot me whit that thing! ;)

Firstly, welcome to the HLPBB! I'll let the others get on with the beams etc...
Now then... to answer your questions...
1) Head to the official site for the "official" releases. But when people make breakthroughs such as shine mapping etc, they may release a build to show it off - it won't be official but it'll show off what they intended to show off. Pick what you like the look of :)
2) Again look around, there's lots of little mods and such that people have made.. the site has the more important stuff but there are other things around that aren't in the "official" builds yet.
3) I really don't know.. anyone else have an idea? :)

Hey, welcome to HLP! I hope you enjoy your stay :)
Someone beam him now!

Hello new person. I hope you like S:AAB (www.geezersoft.co.uk) ;7
Anway, given that most new member's first post is 'how do I get all the SCP gubbinz working?', do we have a FAQ or a noobie's guide to the SCP or owt like that?
-
there should be a guide in the FAQ forum, and as for the wiki thingy, if there's a ? in front of the link, the page hasn't been made yet.
-
if you have FS2 instaled then FSO should work fine for you, there are some optional media files made by people to enable new effects ect, look in that big thread about shinemaps for an example, aslo get the media vp with is in the FAQ forum somewere (or at least it should be) and look in the 'new build' thread for one of the most up to date build avalable

Thanks guys...

The 700Meg Download is an attempt to put the original FS2 (minus the original MVE movies) up for download. If you already have the full FS2 install you don't need it.
No doubt the finished version will include a copy for FS2 Open as well but the files you need can be found in a much smaller package.

I'm sorry... I felt compelled. :D

Yeah. Damn Newbies can't come here and not be expected to be shot with the welcome beam. What was I thinking? :D

What's done is done :D
Well thanks for clearing up that huge file problem. I, as a 56ker get a bit frighten when I hear about something bigger than 100mb.
P.S. I thought I was going to feel a bit more oozy :) when I'm shot, but I'm gona get by it... :D

Heheh, learn to relish it, many of the residents here never received the privilege of a welcome beam (myself included ;)).
