What do you think? I'm planning for it to be either an interceptor or a space superiority.
-
I'd make it a space superiority fighter. Looks to wide to be an interceptor IMO.
Love the model though. my only complaint is that it looks too "2d". Maybe bend the wings down and add a dorsel fin? Or bend the wings up a bit? I dunno...:D
-
Hmm... I think you're right. Let's see....
-
Definitely wants some height on it. I'm finding my Hammerheads and target drones to be a bugger to shoot at, being as they are pretty flat. Give it a big ole' fin or two. Or a big dangly nob
And yes, make it a superiorty. Those wings give you room for lots of lovely missile banks
-
Well, here is another pic of it, with the wings curved down a bit:

Looks nice! I really like it.
-
Much better.
-
needs a fin...
-
Looks like a cruiser to me.
-
*yawn*
-
bend the wings even more
-
Looking good:yes:
Kinda like the old Ulysses, a Terran-Vasudan Hybrid.
But it does need a little more hight to it, but then, quite a few V fighters were quite flat (Ulysses, Pegasus, Seth, Thoth...)
-
add some small turrets or gunpoints on the shoulders, the flat part just before the wings bend down. and actually, i like it the way it is, it has a very small aft profile, wich is good for a superiority fighter. but perhaps make the front of the wings a bit thicker, for missile bays. also, there could be some gunpoints or missile bays on the front of the engine, next to the cockpit , where the intake would be for an atmosperic. and add some tiny truster like thingys on the wingtips.
-
I think she's fine flat, plenty of V ships are flat. Texture her up. :)
-
The back view makes me remember a Mara.
-
I love it. Call it the "Albatross" or something.
Yes, it IS good!

If I may I clame it for the Starship mod! lol only if he lets me that is, but I need models for ships so I can test some weapons. PLEASE CAN I HAVE IT????:nervous:
-
I'm probably going to do an open release, just like I always do. Anyone willing to help me with textures, or do I get to have fun with multitexturing/tiling again?
-
It looks kinda like the Minsk from the 158th. This is a good thing. :)
-
Hmm.... You're right. It does bear a bit of a resemblance to the Minsk. Actually, you know what it really looks like? A Minsk Mk II.
-
I dunno. It's lost some of the features that (to me) define the Minsk, like the off center cockpit. :D
-
True. I just thought it looked similar to the Minsk, but more streamlined . This is also me typing when I should be asleep, so no guarantee it makes nay sense.
-
I'd call it the GTF Loftus
-
Looks like a interceptor space superiority hybrid
-
Meh. Too pointy and not substantial-looking enough to be a Terran fighter.
-
I love it GW!!! Thank you for making it open release. I can't wait to get my hands on it and texturing it once it's been mapped (Everyone knows how I love to retexture stuff when it model is ready for taking textures as I can't map, just change existing ones).
I like the name Albatross, plus I envision it a a medium size bomber, but since it looks really fast (from it's profile and 4 engines) I'd call it an intercept bomber.
The point of an intercept bomber is to be fast enough to keep pace with the intercept fighters so they can clear a path for them and not be lagged behind. have really low offensive armaments, in regards to dogfighting, but be able to quicly carry a potentially devistating payload against the enemy cruiser to capital class threats that appear suddenly (like the alert 5 forces on aircraft carriers. Always ready for launch and intercept).
Even if they and their escorts are incapable of destryoing the enemy, it is their mandate to tie up enemy force and inflict as much damage as possible till reguar forces can be brought to bear and put into strike position. They say intecept fighter pilots are crazy, think of how totally wako an intercept bomber pilot has to be? (think of flight of the intruder) ;)
I do not know if there is a bomber already created that fits that description, but the moment I saw this model It clicked in my mind that is the role I envisioned it playing.
The model is sweet! please don't touch the wings, but since it looks like it could be a trans-atmosphereich bomber also (like the ones from starship troopers, that operate equally well in space or against planetary targets) I'd suggest only one major thing. Add a pair of tailfins not over the engines directly but a little more forward like over the engine housing (if you understand what I mean?) from where it looks like your engines are mounted to the far rear hull.
This is one of the coolest models I've seen (no joke)... WHEN can we get it? [Drools on keyboard like Homer, "Ummm Model (ARRRRH!)"] lol
PS: the fins should only be 2 on top and none on bottom.
-
How does the GTB Loftus sound?
-
Bleh... My stupid FTP software isn't working, so I've been forced to use Fileplanet. When GS gets around to updating the servers, this will get you the model in COB and DXF formats: http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/gtdwolf/intercept.zip

Albatross? Come on, curved wings, long neck, it can only be called the Vulture.:D
Looks great, a real predator.
-
I loaded it up in 3d exploration but it looked "hollow"..
when someone gets this mapped let me know! thnx!!!
Meh "Vulture", I'd expect to see claws or one heck of a texture job then (like the EA bulldog or tigershark)...
-
It looks like it got stepped on...
