Title: new media vp for 3.5.5?
Post by: Triple Ace on November 17, 2003, 12:06:13 pm
Is there a way to get the new media vp to work under the 3.5.5 build?

:wtf: The media VP shouldn't affect whether the SCP runs or not.  You can even have it installed while running retail FS2 and it won't affect a thing.

What I want to do is use the new added stuff.

All you have to do is stick it in the Freespace2 folder. If that doesn't make it work something else is wrong.

If you're using the media vp labelled 3.5.6 (a or b) you'll need to have the -t32 command line tag enabled, otherwise FS won't recognize the 32bit files and thus not load any nebulae, primary weapon shots, or warmup glow for beam cannons.  The problem is that AFAIK, not every build will recognize the -t32 tag.  Bob's _t and the latest build (the one without any letter extension) will recognize it, but I don't know about any of the others.  Also, if you chose the _t build, you must use -htl otherwise it'll crash as soon as you either enter the techroom or commit to a mission.

Thanks I'll try that command. And the t build does not work for me.

The t build crashes back to my desktop with no error.

I had the very same problem with the _t build, until I found out that the command line tags that I entered into the Launcher (any pre 3.1 version) weren't being implimented when I activated my shortcut to FS_Open_t.  I had to enter the tags into the shortcut for it to work.
