Ok, well this is a screenshot WIP for Twisted Infinities, just because (a) it looks nice and (b) to show how hard we've all been working ;)

Flipside :D
-
wait, is that in-game? in FS?
-
Yep :)
-
skybox?
can you hit that water, or is it just skybox/background?
-
The water is collideable, and yes, the rest involves skyboxes ;)
Flipside :D
-
wow
-
do it have water effect that get when hitting to water
-
does the water have animated textures yet?
-
Yes, the light causes the reflections on the water, and yes, the water is animated.
Flipside :D
-
nice then:yes:
-
sweet!!!
when's the re;ase date?
-
Oh yes, any more info on what's been done here is going to have to wait I'm afraid ;) After all, we don't want to ruin ALL the fun ;)
Flipside :D
Edit : Won't be rolling for a while yet, but look out for the FS2 Vanilla demo 'Operation Ragnarok' that'll be coming out in the not too distant future ;)
Flipside :D
-
you guys doing twisted infinties are doing some amazing things...
-
Thanks :D
Well, last time I checked, we had vacancies ;) .....
Flipside :D
-
Yep the TI team needs fredders me thinks. Lots of stuff has been done though, so have no fear, the demo campaign will make it out ;) .. !
-
I'm a FREDder! :D
-
Nice dude, really nice.

-
so what happens when you hit that water?
*clunk* i can imagin :)
-
For things like this are why pixel shaders are needed in FS2 :)
-
hey, you know something?.... you could remake the fall of vasuda prime with this..
-
*cums*
That'd be feckin awesome.
An invisible ship dozens of km's 'up' with 2 huge beam-cannons sweeping across the surface of the planet and you trying to guide dozens of transport ships through a ****load of fighters and swarms of space-to-ground bombs.

actually, we already thought that through and have a plan that will not only keep the AI from hitting it (in theory) but also make it appear much more like water upon impact :p

Lose the space bombs - they'd burn up in the atmosphere, and be goiong way to fast (because of gravity) to be usable in a game situation - other than that, well, let's say it's even more fun to play than to discuss :D

Well, while we don;t have a splash sound or animatin yet (in fact, we haven't figured out how to do it quite yet) you most assuredly don't go clunk :) You go under, start taking serious damage and either get out again, or die.

You could use the SSM and a bunch of Tempests.

You could make it so if you die under the water, it runs a special movie showing a small explosion in the dark depths of the water, an escape pod shooting up past the camera to the surface, then a pilot sat on top of the pod eating some emergency rations and watching the sunset.
-
Real nice one there, Flipside. :) Welcome to the highlights!
-
So, you guys need a FREDder or what? ;)

Say, what's under the water? I don't suppose you could get some kind of particle emmission underneath it to simulate being under water could you?
Excellent stuff btw, really excited about this I am!
-
hey realy nice could you share this with us ?

You were serious? Awesome! :) We're always on the look out for fresh mea... err...talent :D. Registration at F2S (http://www.sectorgame.com/f2s) is essential, because that's where we're hosted. I'd say you've been in the community long enough to know what makes a good FREDder, so I think we can forgo the traditional sample mission ;). I'll PM you the internal password, and get you set up with the OR VP and a mission outline as soon as you're ready :)
Great to have you aboard :D

Registered under the nick TCO :D

Not necessarily. If Shivans were smart (and I think they are) I'd say that 'space bombs' for planetary bombardment would be nothing more and nothing less than large asteroid chunks dropped indiscriminately. You get more bang for your buck, as it were. Asteroids are free and large one will create huge areas of devestation.
-
an idea for under the water, make a place with lot's, and lot's of random firing thingy's at certain points, and make those thingy's make a sound of wirling water, and have it gives damage and a major push/pull.
am i making sence here?
-
Most impressive! Well done, keep up the good work! :)
-
kasperl .... no :)
Looks sweet btw
-
Going underwater seems a bit extreme, not to mention a real workload. Play Aquanox eh? :P
-
Does this mean Twisted Infinities will involve gravity accurate ground targets? meaning buildings and vehicles thta act like they re moving on teh ground, or at least don't look like they are floating in space?
Can this be used as a basis to revivie the Battletech mod Combat Federation? Or is ShadowwolfIH already a member and this is a precurser?
-
LOL Well, at least we promise, no real torpedos, maybe lots of wuvly fishes though ;)

more than a 100 gigaton nuke? ;7
-
they use beam cannons, which has proven to be rather effective ;)

Gigaton nukes would be expensive. Deoribiting a 500m asteroid would render the planet uninhabitable for a while. Combine that with some crazy beam action et voila! surface devestation on the cheap.
-
I know most of you have never seen SeaQuest, but this comes to mind:
Politician: How much would it cost to get me to [insert generic place here] 2 hours early?
Captain: About $2 million.
Politician: That's ok, we'll take it out of the space budget
Don't forget the cost of moving the rocks... having a small heat-shielded bomb with a huge payload would be much easier than towing in a multiple-kilometer-wide rock and dropping it on a planet, in terms of time and fuel. Now FS2 ignores fuel, and subspace makes moving big things seem pretty easy, but the point still holds. The Harbringer was designed for planetary bombardment after all, so we have to assume that orbit-to-surface munitions existed up through FS1 time at least.
Sorry Mikhael, I couldn't resist ;)
Oh, and that "render" rocks!

for the Shivans?!?!?!?! Mik they built like a gazzilion Saths remmeber!
oh that gives me an idea, instead of falling rocks, falling Saths ;7
the explosion of their reactors would leave a sizable dent in a planet :D
-
LOL Not even Alpha 1 could do anything about that! ;)
-
Battleships with flak cannons firing at enemy fighters and bombers. Hmmm and maybe watching a cruiser fall out of the sky and making a huge tidal wave.
-
i think beam's are just enough to take anything out 4 Sathanas would Destroy whole planet i think
-
battleships on water sorry I was not clear enough
-
Um... I can't seem to be able to DL that picture. Its gets about 1/2 way done and then quits. Whats up with that?

...gives the word "dropship" a hole new meaning. ;)
