Anyone have any links for some good Truespace modeling Tutorials? Karajorma's basic model building is fine, I just want to learn how to do more of the advanced stuff now that I think I've gotten the basics down. Thanks.
(sorry Black Wolf, I don't like GMAX much, Truespace just seems easier to use, and I like the interface.

If u find one a tute that is good for sheilds and enging glows will u plz let me know??

That could help me, just if you come across one that deals with modelling, that would be appreciated :D.

Anyway, there's some waffle about which are the more interesting of trueSpace's tools and what they do in the Freespace 2 Ship Creation Guide.

well it just depend by the version probably.
I started with ts5, and without having used any 3d package before, I found it easy and intuitive.
I think that you can love or hate it, with no intermediate positions, mostly depending by your prior knowledge of other packages, with a more "common" workflow.
Personally I love it, but I admit that it really isn't very powerfull, and sometimes it give me nice headachs trying to "invent" way to do things that could be done in a couple of minutes with other programs:)

I agree. I started out using a CAD package, but now I use Truespace only. Well, with the exception of Lith
Funnly, I have TS3.2 and TS6, but I find 3.2 easier to work in. It's more, simple is the only word I can think of. 6 has it's place (Solidfy, mirroring, and cubic UV mapping) but for mesh making, it's 3.2
Oh, btw, to get working shields, you need a mesh called shield, with an attacted Spotlight, not a Local Light.

thats all cool but besides the spotlight how did u make the shield mesh. I havne't found an effective way to do it yet, or LoD and engine glows (eg the ones found coming out of the back of the appolo)

Truespace and I have a love-hate relationship. As long as I kepp saving regularly I'm generally happy with it.
Beowulf, to learn about LODs and thrusters and stuff, use Kazan's PCS (v 1.3.4 for prefernce) to convert a Volition FS2 ship in to a COB file. Open that in TS and have a look at the hierarchy (you'll find it in the keyframe editor, just hover over the buttons till you find the one you want). Feel free to buzz me over MSN if you need something, but I'm not that good at it meself...

Just to add a couple of points:
The mesh needs to be UNTEXTURED and be triangulated. Oh, and a local light works just as well. It's only used as a method of splitting the model into subobjects when you run it through the converter. :)
