Here are some random things I've picked up whilst playing the main FS2 campaign:

Surely I shouldn't be able to see the warp.pof like that?

OK, this one not exactly a bug but as you can see the spec lighting makes the Bodecia look a bit... dodgy, ie. that big blatant triangle there. Can someone suggest settings or something that might improve this?

K, see the AAA beam firing? All well and good, but see that white blob in the top left? That happens whenever a beam is fired
Teh Specs:
XP 1800+ Thoroughbred
Gainward GF4 Ti4800
Asus A7N8X-X
FS2_Open_t
-htl -t32 -d3dmipmap
-
the last one was posted about before, IIRC.

Okay, i almost feel like one of the coders since i'm gonna answer all those questions :)

Specs do not matter.
The warp.pof is seen like that always, we hope some of the coders will give it a look. It might be fixed in newer builds but i havent tried nebula mission on them yet.
Second thing. Using my shinemaps that's what it will look like. If you use the standard maps it will be a LOT worse. Its the fault of the model actually, the asteroid has VERY few polygons which makes lighting look like that. Actually, it looks 'okay' with my shinemaps where it looked 'crappy' with the standard ones, but if you want it really good looking you'll have to wait for someone to remodel the whole thing.
Third thing. Use the newest builds. The 18_11 build does not have the bug anymore as well as other bugs that have disappeared. Using the newest build normally helps a lot ;)
That should help :)

Then I shall. Way to quote three big pics BTW :p
-
oh yeah, quoting large pictures roXXorz :D
-
yes, all three of those (well not the Bodecia, as that's not a code bug, but LS's shine maps do, I beleve, fix this) should have been fixed.
-
Ugh :ick If it were even one mission more common, I'd suggest the Boadicea be prioritized for rebuilding. I've never really noticed it before, but that is ugly.
-
It's also the singularly most complex model in the entire game. I really would have thought that :V: could have done a better job with Bosch's command ship/asteroid base. Then again, it also has a nasty habit of just popping up in the mission that it shows up in, so it wasn't exactly well-planned anyway.
-
problems with the boadicea:
- The Iceni is actually inside so there's lots of polygons.
- Volition made a crappy asteroid around it
- It's not hidden in any form
my suggestions:
someone should remodel it so it has _two_ asteroids.
There would be a higher poly outer asteroid that, viewed from a big distance looks just like a closer normal one. Once it's discovered it blows up the outer asteroid, revealing the _Installation_ which would be some kind of semi-asteroid-base thing, that can move slowly but still is partially covered. then the _Installation_ blows up revealing the inside hidden Iceni.
That way, it can be there all the time in the mission and you'll really *be able to find it*, not like its popping up there out of nowhere. Also, it'd look far better due to the outer asteroid layer that is blown off anyway when the base has been spotted.

The Boadicea is so complex I can't even export it to a COB to see how it's put together. It's not very pretty but it's a marvel of POF editing. I can't imagine trying to redo it.
-
I've heard whispered rumours of how complex the Bodecia's structure and destruction process are. Frankly I'm scared.
-
As to the Boedicea: I have seen it in FRED. I was initially surprised by the amount of weaponry it was having. I realized there is an Iceni inside later.

More nasties:

Whassupwitdat? It looked fine in the next mission.

This is obviously wrong :)

Just so you don't feel too bad, this I snapped this scene cos it looks great - the shine maps and what not are just perfect with no over-shinyness. This is why we play SCP flavour FreeSpace :)

Here's a capture of my loadout screen.
This type of thing is typical that I've seen under the newer HT&L builds, although it fluctuates between displayed normal, a bit smaller, much smaller, so large that you can only see parts of the ship at the edges of the window, and now most recently, this realy small colored ship. Sometimes, it'll even display the ship as a mere point at the centre of the window.
This screen was taken from the newest fs2_open_n (from the new technology build), tags -htl & -t32, but not with the tag that activates the build's special features. I've also encountered these problem in degrees of severity that have been steadily increasing since I started using HT&L builds with bob's "_t". Launcher is 3.2 (well, actually 3.1 since the program in RT's sig says its 3.1).
System Specs:
AMD 800 MHz. (tbird) 256K
256MB SD-133
GF2 MX 32MB AGP (drivers 45.32 I think, whatever the latest are)
Display is set to 1152/864-32, though limited to 1024/768-32 in game.
Later!

*decides to stick with 3.5.5*
-
that loadout thingy is always super buggy
-
How could you deteorite it? The Retail loadingscreen was bugless.
But I noticed you rather make more possibilities to crash intentionally. For example the 'game quits when a ship has no icon', or newer versions always find a reason why not to load.[Correct me if I am wrong]
