I was browsing thru the VPs, and I found a muzzle flash animation in there, named MuzFlash.ani. I'm sure lots of ppl know about this, but anyway, it's a sign [v] might've been planning (sp?) them. have any coders found traces of muzzle flash animation code?
-
I found the ani. It's a bit... crap.
-
Well, yea, but the whole point of this is that it's in there, which means [V] probably put in at least some code for a muzzle flash.
-
Quite true. What I meant is it's probably best they didn't, unless that one was, like, the very first prototype...
-
it's suported for flak weapons on turrets in fs2 retail, check it

Sometimes I feel like no one pays attention to me...

Muzzleflashes are doable without SCP. However they have a major problem. When your ship moves the flash doesn't, meaning that when you fire you see the flash behind you.

Yeah I was just about to say something along those lines. The real problem comes not on slow-moving capship turrets, but on fighters. Plus, right now it's just a variant of the explosion, so it would need to be revamped much like the thrusters to look good. And, Bob's already said he's thinking about how to do it
