I have quite a number of projects that I've begun but haven't completed over the HLP years. I'd like to get them done and out of that way, though - the problem is that I don't know where to start!
So check out anything above you aren't familiar with, and pick the one(s?) you'd like to see me concentrate my spare time on.
-
I like/want your two latest works.
-
I loved the GTExD. With some SCP work, you could work out the collision bug & etc.
-
I wanna see the asteroid base finished:yes:
It's a real fine piece of work.
-
all of the above :D
-
TABLE PARSER, more than anything else. Followed by the Arcadia add ons.
The Fenris deck layout... I dunno. I'd make that my lastest, finalist, backburnerest priority.
The Asteroid base is groovy too, but I don't think it needs any more work.
-
Besides being released that is. :p
-
Add-ons :)
-
Me and I believe it was GE had started a project to map out the internal decks of freespace ships and our first ship was the Fenris...see if you can get in touch with him for more info, I don't know if I still have what little we got done.
-
Internal mapping would be cool I think, I remember seeing stuff on it awhile back. I remember it being good stuff.
-
Go the Serious Sam mod. We need a FS FPS - it'd allow for greater story diversity. I also clicked the Fenris deck layout as the two projects could convceivably be interwoven, and the Asteroid base, coz it's so damn fine :)
-
Just do them in alphabetical order - all of them. ;)
-
I have a fondness for the arcadia defense extension ;)
-
the Fenris thing would be very usefull for a lot of stuff, and the TBL parser would help the FW project, and perhaps other projects, an awfull lot
-
I once did leviathon deck layout, well, started it... I'd say give it a shot... (check my posts in petrachs idea to give each ship a bridge)

That reminds me. Star Wars: Republic Commando. That might be interesting. Though it probably won't have force powers.
I don't know that a Freespace FPS would work so well, but what do I know? At least do it on the Unreal Warfare engine and not Serious Sam.

NEED......MORE......VOTESSSSS.......
-
If you have started some internal decks for anything I would love to see it! Links?
-
Could always give me a hand w' Reci.....
-
first 4 look the best, plus they allow for more models that the community needs

:wtf: Click on the poll option itself and scroll to the 4th post from the bottom of the first page.
Aldo: I'm trying to get some stuff off my plate, and you want me to heap more on it? :p
-
Some of the pics are red X'ed out. The second option has no pics at all.
-
It strikes me that the Arcadia really ought to be upgraded visually before the GTEx models get completed.

Alot of those posts are from before the vB days, back when HLP ran on the UBB. Most of those red X's are smileys; scroll down to the bottom of the 2nd thread and you'll see 2 pics of the GTExD. And if you really want to see more, just search the forums for "GTExD", and you should come up with a few threads.
Mik: You mean hi-poly it?
-
You said it, I didn't, Sandwich. ;)
-
:wtf: No, you said "it":

nope. I think you nailed "it" on the head. ;)

Well, it seems to be a close tie between the Asteroid Base and, surprisingly enough, the Fenris Internal Layout thing. So, since the Asteroid Base is currently waiting for GE to have some free time, I've been working on the FenInt.
First I want to get a complete and detailed rendition of an internal corridor built; from there I can extrapolate various internal sizes, such as deck height and stuff. Reference material has been the pictures available at the bottom of this page (http://www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/cut). So far, this is what I've got:
I don't have any lights set up to simulate glowing objects yet, just some randomly-placed local lights so far. Thoughts? ;)
-
Looks good, although you should really put a door or.. uh. open space on the end. ;)
-
Worry not, young Padawog. ;) :p
-
I have a feeling that is going to get really creepy soon.
-
Check out how even the votes are, man. Go for my option. :D
-
It doesn't need a door. It needs a pressure bearing bulkhead with a doggable hatch.
It also needs to be a hell of a lot more claustrophobic, in my opinion, but I'm fruity.
-
I would tend to agree, but it's based on this, right?
-
Yeah, the GTA seems to like wide foggy corridors on their ships. It is a common trivia fact that, if the Orion's corridors were reduced to the dimensions usually found on twentieth century combat vessels, it could be less than one-fourth its actual size.
:p
-
Yeah, I know, Steak. Its one of those "Sci-Fi contradicts Good Sense" things. Its one of those things we should happily over look (though I don't always succeed).
-
Go Vasudan!
-
FYI, I'm aiming for modelling accuracy, not rendering accuracy.
-
I just want engineering accuracy. ;)
I'm in the minority though.
-
Worked on recreating the primary floor texture all day today. Pretty pleased with the results. Also added a few omni lights where the glowing tubes are, but I wish MAX had some kind of area light thing.
-
if you work on the FPS thing do it for Half-Life 2 (when it's out of course) not Serious Sam. Everyone will get HL2 but not everyone has Serious Sam.
PS: that corridor looks good so far
-
Ditch the floor texture and model the floor. Right now that floor is looking pretty flat. When you're trying to get nice accurate lighting in the scene for renders later, you're going to get a pretty anemic, inaccurate set of rays coming up from the floor.

Uhm... this is a bad thing??
I'll keep it in mind, but for later. I want to keep the polycount down to FPS level levels, so with texture, bump, glow, and reflection mapping on that floor, it should be sufficient for now.
-
Sandwich, if you're planning on doing an FPS mod (I'd suggest Half Life 2 or the Unreal Warfare engine) there's tons of stuff left over from FS:FPS. (Which was going to be an FS campaign for Red Faction) Send me a PM, I don't think Plasma would mind someone adopting the materials since the project is dead.

If you're concerned about polycount, look toward those pipes and their lack of segmentation. That's way too many polys spent for an FPS.
-
I voted first for the Asteroid base, then the parser, and lastly you can lend a hand with my projects ... (last part joking);)

Yeah, I know about the pipes, but they can be lowered without a problem. Besides, they were more of a stand-in anyway - they're not even textured, just assigned a color.
While I'm trying to keep in mind a relatively low polycount, at the same time I'm not sure what the polycount requirements are for Serious Sam or any of the other FPSes.

That's a pretty generous offer. What format are most of the files in?
-
*rephrases ICQ question*
And what kind of material is it? ;)
-
I was messing around a bit, trying to get the light strips to actually affect the lighting of the scene (which I figured out how, BTW), when I came across something called an "Ink 'n Paint" material... ;)

Look! It's Thirteen! :D
-
Wow, this is quite possibly the most inconclusive poll ever. :D
And I like your stuff.
-
BW: Thirteen?
Alikchi: Thank you. :)
Having done graphic design of a website most of yesterday, I wasn't into the artistic mood when I finally got home, which is why I messed around with render settings as opposed to modeling more. ;) But today I ahould be doing prettty much nothing but input data and coding, so perhaps I'll be more in the mood to stretch my artistic muscles when I get back. ;)
-
Come on, the Asteroid Base is winning! Switch to it!
:p

XIII, a cellshaded game.

Oh, the asteroid base was winning before as well, but you apparently can't read: :p

What program are you using, Sandy? IS that... *gulp* Rhino> lol

Erk, no, far from it. While much of the time I still wish I could have Rhino's modeling tools, I've pretty much converted to MAX.

Welcome to the Dark Side. :thepimp:

Oh, ok. Now that that's cleared up... ;)
And to update, I'd work more on the corridor, but my free HDD space (or lack thereof) is screaming for me to encode and burn to CD a few gigabytes of Enterprise episodes, so... :p
