I mean it to be an innovation in battle theory, that is, 3 heavy forward facing beams, only 2 medium beams for a broadside.

Well, it looks like some merger of a Hecate and a Deimos, although the mesh is well done. What class is it supposed to be? Also, 7 beams on a ship is a BIG deal, that's a lot more power than FS2-era destroyers. For the time being, can you de-smooth it around the engines? It's a little hard to distinguish back there.

Hrm, perhaps you're right. Maybe three mediums, four smalls?

That would be better. Come to think of it, this model really reminds me of one of mine, from my bygone days of random public mods. Not as detailed as yours though.

I like it (yeah the sec I saw it I though of you Stratcom :cool: ), BUT please reduce teh gun barrels by half the current length. For some reason that style of turrent makes me feel they are too long.
Actually gun barrels feel wrong totally.. Try boxes like missile launchers? Ohh lo how about a heavy destroyer that fires torpedos or CLOSE range missles to compliment its impressive beam weaponry (making it deadly at both long and short range) Sorry I consider a beam weapon long range as far as cap ship to cap ship batles go... I know I'll probably get flamed but oh well ;7

I really need to put a disclaimer on that fighter ;)
It's Venom's Banshee. She's fast, she looks good, she's glowmapped, and she's the closest-looking to a canon fighter I've seen. I use it to test ships because it can get around big models faster than anything else in game without hacking at the tables.
And the beams really aren't mine either, they are a mod of the blue beam pack found here. It's credited in the readme of the mod if I left those weapons in tables, but yeah.
On looking back, the similarity really is appaling. Not that it's a bad thing, especially since that corvette is designed to look like the Raynor which is someone elses model.
And Snipes is right, funny engine masks. Again, I ask you to clear smoothing and start it fresh.
EDIT: If the geometry looks like I think it does back there, it looks like a blown-out tin can. Those masks should either be thicker or fewer in number I think.

Huh? Honestly I have not been in the FS community since the days of the VBB. I have never seen your model or very many others before. This one came out of a sketch I did in a notebook. I didn't even intend for it to have three beams in the front, I figured that out half-way through. My apologies if my ship resembles anyone else's, but it truely is an original piece of work.

Have you ever heard of simultaneous origination?
Two people invent the same device on opposite ends of the Earth with no idea the other person has the same idea/concept. One gets to the patent office first and becomes known for it, the other fades into obscurity (or worse, people might think he is ripping the other guy off, which he is NOT)...
Don't worry about it. I love when people come up with ideas and then someone says, "oh, like this" (and holds up a screenshot). Not to shoot anyone down, but to show that we have some of the most creative modding minds on the net, and it's great to have more people joining us daily that think the same way (this game truly is limited only by our imaginations and the engine constraints)...

And since engine constraints are being knockedd away left and right, there's a lack of imagination. :p I wish someone'd make the Valhalla concept I made for Thor... It's ugly, but it's beautiful...

Sorry Beowulf, I wasn't trying to insinuate anything. I've done models that look a whole lot like other ships before, not to realize it until long after the fact. I really have no problem with ships looking the same, especially when the two developed individually. Anyway... *goes back to piddling*

Nice, although wouldn't it be better to elevate the second beam turret so it doesn't hit the ones ahead?

I can't see the first pic but the second one looks nice enough. The engine section looks a little bland to me though.
