Alright,
i know theirs many Talented and gifted ppl here .. with art , Freding, and animation and all sorts of stuff...
im willing 2 learn. if anyone would like 2 Teach me or take me on as a 'Learner' or somthing id be glad 2. i would like 2 make Art.. as in fs2 art that u c on the right side of the home pg of HLP.
Anyone interested in teaching me?

Well, FREDding is not something that is taught, per se. The way I started FREDding was to peek into other people's missions. I took what I thought to be the best techniques and applied them to my missions. There is no shame in learning from those more skilled than oneself. (I should know, I'm still learning... :nervous: )
Go download missions and campaigns and open them up in FRED, that should give you good start! :yes:

how do i opean it up in fred? do i put it in games\fs2\data\missions ? or what.. so i can opean it up wif fred mission editor.

Truthfully, it doesn't matter where you place the mission files. You can search for and open them in FRED. However, placing them in your /missions directory will allow you to test your missions quickly since that is where FS looks for them.
On the other hand, if the missions you want to open are in a '.vp' file, you'll have to get VPView to extract them. I believe a download link for VPView may be found through the 'Resources' link on the HLP homepage.

use real words, not AOL truncations
most of us are in our 20s and that sort of crap just makes you look like an idiot, and causes great pain in our eyes when reading your posts, please write like a normal human, it woun't cause you keyboard to wear out if you use all the leaters in a word,
note; I am NOT a strikler for spelling/gramer

First things first: have you read the FRED2 help file? (Can be accessed through the 'Help' menu and clicking 'Help Topics.') When in doubt, read the instructions. :)
Just to review: to get to the events editor, select the 'Editors' menu, and click on 'Events' to access the events manager.

Well, you did start off by completely bypassing all the normal required reading and telling us we're all playing a dead game by posting in every forum... :doubt:
But anyway. Since we assume you've played the main campaign, all you have to do is open FRED and the help file and do the tutorial. Don't just read it, actually DO the steps, then save and play it to see what happens. After that you'll be all set.
Or you can start by downloading some of the user-friendly finished mods around here (like Inferno, the NTV demo, Lightning Marshall, even the FS Port) and playing through those to see what we've been up to.
Check out the hilights, browse the modding forum, and try to contribute to discussions and absorb some information before posting a new thread about something that could easily be found through a search. Respect everyone here and they will respect you.

If you want to learn to do Art like the stuff on the main page you'll need some 3d software with render capabilities. 3ds Max is, IMO, the most user friendly of the bunch but it's also expensive, and the Free version, GMax, has no rendering capabilities. Anybody else have any suggestions?
As for FRED, do the walkthrough, and read the relevant sections on the Wiki. It's small ATM, but it's got some handy tips and tricks. Once you start to understand how to script your events, you're well on your way to becoming a successful FREDder.
Oh, and Play NTV. NTV - teh ownage. :D

I like trouble kiddies. It keeps the 'reasonable' people active because they have to keep things civilized. The only situation where it sucks is when you dont have any form of moderating powers (like on PXO, or the former VBB). :nod:

Hmm.
Charis, you seem to be a very impatient type. So don't even try getting into the 3d art part of hte world. Why? Because the #1 factor in good art is PATIENCE.
Just get the free version of TrueSpace 3.2, and you'll see what I mean ;7

Bias is generally an unjustified prejudice or judgement on another.
We have plenty of justification for judging you.
Lets see.
Spam, spam, not searching before posting, more spam. Uhh... Saying stuff is dead when it most certainly is not. More spam. And thats only with ~30 posts. Wow.
Btw, if you want to be of more worth, find me a good 3d model of a human. Female or male I care not I just need something to make a cutscene out of.

Charismatic I've found HLP to be one of the most friendly bulletin boards around.
It appears that completely by accident you're managing to push peoples buttons. So take some friendly advice.
1) Lots of people have posted links or advice, myself included. We've posted them cause the answers you want are there. For example the question about LightWave you asked is actually answered in my FAQ's modding section.
2) Try a bit harder with the grammer and english. While most of us will forgive it in a foreigner it's a little harder to stomach from someone who is most likely a native english speaker. Using bad grammer and no capital letters looks sloppy and makes your sentances harder to read. The upshot is most people will cease to bother trying and just ignore your posts.
3) The people on this board are reasonably forgiving of minor transgressions so if you smarten up a little and improve your image no one will remember it in a few days time.
I'm not a moderator or admin of any sort around here so you can ignore what I'm saying if you choose to do so but I would advise that you pay it some attention.

Well, beating him 15 to 0 doesnt deflate it. Usually that helps, but in this special case, it only makes the situation worse.
