Title: More modelling...
Post by: beatspete on December 03, 2003, 05:46:50 am
Following my concorde model last weekend, I decided to model one of these babies:

McDonnell Douglas MD-11

I've put all  the images up on my website, go here to see the page directly:

There's some explanation there.

Done in Rhino 3D, so far the model is detailed in flight (ie no landing gear).  Its a bit simpler than the concorde model I did, no flaps modeled or things like that, but I hope to add these with texturing.  The concorde model was very hard to texture because of its polycount.
This model is about 30000 polys in TS.

If your paranoid about angelfire, just look at this for now

Most impressive! :) What else have you got planned? I'd try a De Havilland Comet - they're pretty cool.

BTW for those who were wondering that top photo is not a Photoshop job! :D The plane really is flying that low.

In fact here's a bigger plane flying lower at the same place.

You know, it must throw up quite a sandstorm when one of those flys overhead...

Apparently you aren't allowed to walk your dog on that beach, cause they get blown into the sea.
Its in the carribean, an island called St Maartan.  I must go there sometime.

I'm thinking about it.  Its a cool plane because the engines are actually mounted inside the wings.  If I can find enough pictures, and a few details (wing span etc, helps with scaling) i might give it a go.

I could have a whole airport eventually.
