looking at it, it looks like cell shadeing is someehow getting activated, but it looks like that is in HTL mode, so that can't be, maybe this is z fighting

Looks like you might have a card that doesn't support shine mapping, like the TNT2 I used to have.

I have the same problem, with the whole poly turned on or off by the specular effect, with I think around 5 or 6 different possible levels of brightness, but I never really counted em.
The effect is a bit odd, but since I have a very old card, I never complained about this, I just reduced the ingame bright level to turn off the effect (but a command line to turn on/off the spec effect would be appreciasted)

Karma.  You still need to report what kind of system you have including processor, video card, memory, operating system, and driver versions.  That will help them determine what the issue is.

Its not HTL, I do not have this problem in HTL. But HTL crashes to my desktop with no error message.

Without the specular lighting I can't use glowmaps or shinemaps.

IceFire, I haven't posted my specs just because my system is that old (I'm running it with a matrox millenium g200...) that it is already a miracle that I'm able to just run the game, so I'm not surprised when I see bugs on new graphic features, I'm enough satisfied for being able to test the stability of my models:)
I also don't think they are interested in fixing this kind of bugs when they appear on that kind of system, and I also think that they shouldn't, since it would be mostly a waste of time.

My bad, I had you confused with the original poster of the message.  Sorry!  Triple Ace, it is you who need to post specific system specifications if you want the team to even try and take a crack at fixing the issue.

If you are running on old hardware then its unlikely that it will be fixed since its most likely that your card can't do the effect in the first place.  If its a newer system or a brand new one, then its a bug thats probably fixable.

I posted my specs above and it is a new system. I bought it this summer.

I missed that too.  Its not really that new in terms of the hardware items themselves....the S3SavagePro is an older card...probably close to a GeForce 4 Ti....not sure if it'll support what were doing here or not.  May be worth troubleshooting if we can....

Do you know why it does not do this in htl?

Not sure, I'm not a video card engineer....but your cards HT&L system may be required for a certain feature that is separate on other systems.

You know, there's a reason why S3 isn't even a competitor in the 3D gamecard market anymore...

Incidentally, is this prosavage 3D chip you have integrated by any chance?

I know but it was built in when I bought the system.

The bad news is S3 ProSavage DDR dosen't support TnL (Transform and Lighting).
The Good news is there is a sofware out there that can emulate TnL for your card..(Well, at least a little bit) It's called 3D Analyze... just click here:

This doesn't sound good.

As for the link... Here it is (http://www.tommti-systems.com/main-Dateien/files.html)

That (S3 ProSavage) is a very old card. It came out just before Unreal Tournament and died quickly after. If a GeForce FX is a 10, a GeForce 4 is an 8, a GF3 is a 6, a GF2 is a 4, a GF1 is a 2, then the S3 Savage is either a 1, 2 or 3, depending on if the game uses hardware transform & lighting, if it doesn't, or if it doesn't and it also uses the special S3 Savage instructions.
It will be good (score of 3) for Unreal Tournament & Unreal because those games had support for the Savage enhanced library. Games older than UT are unlikely to use T&L, and so will be OK (score of 2). It will suck (score of 1) with anything new that can use transform & ligting (Renegade, Generals, all modern first-person-shooters, Warcraft III).

More bad news =(

Now for some advice.  I'd advise that you shell out a few bucks ( < $100) and get a real video card.

I personally recommend a Radeon 9600 =)

And if you can, avoid the SE, it's a little cheaper but not worth the performance drop.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Soon I will get me a new card.
