Okay, I was going over something in Fred in freespace 1, and decided to test out a new kind of mission. I place tons of ships, destroyers, cruisers and such, and made them hidden from sensors, neutral, and had them play dead. Basically, I made a junkyard. The only problem with it that I can see is that the enemy might attack it regardless. Tell me if this has been done before, I could use some ideas on how to improve my mission. And if it hasn't, well then I guess I"m in the dark.

well, if you make the junk ships enemies, then make your enemies neutral, then your enemies will attack you and not the junk ships.
Neutral was for stuff like HOL, who were still enemies, but not affiliated with the shivans, while at the same time, wouldn't attack them. (Although the shivans would attack HOL)

You could also protect all of the derelicts. Then you could make them any team you want.
I think junkyards have been done before, but I think they're pretty uncommon and rarely the focus of a mission - generally they're effectively just funny-shaped asteroids.

Now there's a wacky thought... change the pofs that the game looks for when generating an asteroid field, and replace them with ships!
"My GOD sir... its an entire fleet of derelict Fenrises!"
It they had the same hit count as a Fenris, just try and protect a destroyer from those things impacting its hull!
Later!
