Title: My excuse to complain...
Post by: Hippo on December 06, 2003, 07:41:36 pm
Well, some of you know where Massachusetts is... Those who know much about it, knows that its being hit with blizard like conditions right now... Myself being north of Boston (state capital), puts me in the worst of it... We have 2.5 feet already, and its not supposed to stop snowing for another 27 hours, at 1:00 monday morning (GTM-0500)... Its only been snowing for 20 hours now, with a 4 hour period of light snow... Whereas this pending snow is the heaviest of the storm... Im suprised that I haven't lost power yet... Of cource, there are already 6 confirmed dead, and 2000 homes without power... :shaking: Ok, now its getting freaky... Im typing this at my usual slow pace, and as i finished that sentence, a single light starts flickering in the room... At the same time, the TV randomly turns off... my mom turns on the tv, and it works fine... :shaking: It just happened again, but this time with another room... Ok, now im completely nervous... (listening to TMBG isn't helping anything) Half the people on my buddy list just winked out of existance... If Mike or I don't show up for a day or two, send search parties... :blah:

A gas fireplace or plenty of wood, lots of quilts, and the like is the best option.  Been through some rougher snowstorms before myself.  Most of us have on the eastern seaboard at one time or another....this looks like a nasty one so best of luck!

I'm on Long Island. They said on the news that the heaviest snow was covering a (vertical) belt around the middle of the island. Guess what part of the island I live on. XD; Best of luck to you. Keep warm.

Good luck all!  I live in Alabama where they shut down everything for days if there is 3/4in of snow on the ground.

Might I suggest you hold complaints until you get the sort of ice storm that knocks out power to your entire region for more than a week, leaving you to cook your food over a bunch of tealight candles in a ceramic bowl?

Meh. I must be feeling bitter tonight.

Good luck, Hippo. I hope your weather clears up soon.

Anyway, good luck, hippo.

Hmh, I still wonder why people think there are polar bears walking on our streets here in Finland. Actually we hardly have snow on ground at the moment, but that will most likely change in the next two weeks.

In any case, best of luck to anyone who's in the middle of storm or who will be. Luckily we rarely have any big storms regardless or season.

Yeah, we haven't got snow at all here in Helsinki. I hope this will chance soon, the scenery is pretty boring without snow :)

Well, everything looks fine, though i could have sworn that I saw a penguin walk by... Its now cold, windy and wet... With 10-20 mph winds (supposedly) i don't see how the snow is still on the ground... Its about 12 degrees F now...around 3 feet... all of a sudden the weather people are saying there is another strong band headed our way... figures...

*ahem*

Anyone remember 1998? "Ice Storm '98"

That was fun, we didn't lose any power but we didn't have to go to school for 1 whole week! It was fun, although it wasn't for the other people in Ontario who's power went out for an entire week. Electricity towers (the big metal thing with the wires going off into the distance) collapsed, because of the ice. Man, I can't wait till the next one! :D

Viva la Canadian Winter!!!

Winter rulz in Canada...it's cold, but you get to miss school alot of the time :)

Ok, If my school isn't closed i'll... I'll... well, i don't know what i'll do... The town i live in ( I go to a public high school in another town ) is already closed, and almost EVERy other town it considering closing since there's still 24+ inches of snow on sidewalks, and its STILL snowing... But still, last year, we had 3 feet at one point, and we were the ONLy school in the STATe to have classes... not even delayed... We drove for 3 hours to get to school by 7... If we have school, I will not be held accountable for my actions...

What're you complaining about? I could seriously get into having to tunnel to class. Sorta a "Viet-Cong meets Eskimo" thing going on.
