Er, Collosus is just the OEM version of FreeSpace2. Which means, its not the entire campaign, just part of it.

There are no 'extra' missions to it.

Oh really?  Dang I feel stupid now.  I thougt I read somewhere that there were some missions done by V that were showing off the Collosus....

Oh well, I guess I will have to make them myself!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've always thought that a Campaign based around the Colossus pushing the NTF out of Sirius, Polaris and Regulus could be a lot of fun.

Yea, me too...  I'm really supreised no one has done it yet.

Though your last mission would be really sad...

I was thinking about ending it when the NTF are kicked out of Regulus so that it can end on a high note rather than reinventing missions from FS2 proper.

I was going to make a mini-campaign based on this once I'd finished either TMA or MG but it looks like it will be a long time before I finish either.

might be a bit easy though.

I can think of a few ideas :)

Not every mission has to be "fly around while the colossus kills something". The colossus had a hanger bay so you can have tonnes of missions based around scouting for enemy ships,  cutting enemy supply lines and even a few strike missions for when the Colossus is busy in another battle.

If you really look forward to do this, just don't forget to play the FS2 campaign and look for references about that matter (IIRC the Colossus kicked the NTD Cirene)

Well both MG and TMA will take me ages to finish so I doubt I'll be doing this any time soon.

"After the Cappelan Wars the GTVA began construction on the Colossus' sister ship the GTVA Maximus" :D.

Who cares for the  Colossus. It was destroyed by the Juggernaught. A second version of it though would be nice.

"Taking care of the fragments of NTF and Shivan forces still out there, possing a threat to the GTVA"

I very much doubt that the GTVA would bother to build a second one given the huge flaws in the first.

Besides if there are still reminants of the NTF left by the time it was finished the GTVA must have some real idiots in charge.

hum, if no one is up to making a Collosus maybe I will take a peek at it.

After all I am replaying the main campaign right now, all I would have is keep an eye out for the Collosus information.

Hmm, the Colossus was great while it was the big kid on the block, and actually didn't do too badly when matched up one on one with a Sathanas - a larger and heavier armed vessel - not to mention surviving a kamikaze attack from an Orion and not being fully repaired.

At least story wise.  Seemed like matching a WW2 heavy cruiser versus a battle cruiser in a slugging match for comparison in armanent and size differences.

Does sound like a good idea for a campaign though.

I actually thought the Colossus died in a really stupid way, and that's why people love to hate it.  The ship itself, while looking like an oversized water pistol, was relatively effective as a warship.  It consistantly smashed up a bunch of destroyers and lesser vessels while taking only trivial damage, and it stood up decently well to a Sathanas.  Now the weapons package could be slightly improved (like bringing some of her guns up to par with a Sath's BFReds) but the ship itself was pretty effective.  And it would have survived if command hadn't ordered it on a suicide mission and scuttled her drives (no other explanation for the "DISABLED" tag in that mission) and it could have been used to cover convoy retreats and gotten out of system like other valuable fleet assets before the Capella star went boom.  Instead, it just sat there and took a beating from a Sath and hardly even fired back.

the rear lower quater beam coverage isn't brilliant, at close range.
I noticed that when I was messing around with the campaign missions.

Point of the Colossus was - up until the Sathanas came on the scene - it kicked the arse of anything and everything thrown at it.  It made mincement of the NTF fleet, so much that the whole GTVA strategy seemed to be ticking the enemy into showing at a major engagement without alerting them to the Colossus' presence.

Did look crap though..... a giant yellow & green supersoaker - WTF?!
