What is she, a vampire???  I don't really like the look of those fangs.  Everything else looks great, nice job!

What's with the teeth? And the ears? It's just wrong.

catgirls, they often have fangs. and animal ears.

Smeone point out they have a tail, so I can repeat myself a third time.

Yes, we are fully aware there is a name for such wrongness now.

It's still wrong.

As in, you know, not right. The opposite of right, in fact.

Try and use the fact that there's a label for it to justify it again so I can repeat myself.

Post by: Nico on December 10, 2003, 05:24:48 am
what's wrong with it, exactly?
I prefer that to the half human half anything that plague stuff like startrek, but that's just me I guess ( since I've never heard anybody saying those things in ST are "wrong" ).

Anyway, I don't like the style of that pic.
Title: something.
Post by: Stryke 9 on December 10, 2003, 05:41:06 am
Okay.

Wrongness level 1: If I saw that thing coming towards me in my backyard, say, my old bolt-action wouldn't fill it with rounds quick enough to keep me happy. It's downright creepy and looks vaguely malevolent. When I get enough money to buy and regularly, ah, fuel an M16, my tolerance for this sort of wrongness will increase accordingly. It's really a pity Vulcan cannons are out of my legal and financial reach, or I would soon become positively Christlike in my tolerance of and affection for wrong critters coming at me. Bring on more of 'em, says the theoretical I.

Wrongness level 2: It's like a furry, but a closet furry; someone who's all-out, you know, "I like ****ing sheep", that's fine, so long as they ain't my sheep and I don't have to hear about it or for God's sake see it. This sort of thing is creepy because it's like that, but humanoid enough to pass for normal, which is sorta like the feeling of not being sure whether the guy in the sauna with you is gay. It's just... off.

Wrongness level 3: Why, for Chrissake? It doesn't add anything to the appearance, isn't stylized enough to be called an artistic thing, isn't creative or original in the slightest, doesn't add interest or look like it involves special capabilities or anything justifying of that sort. It's just kinda this wierd, creepy fetishy thing.

Wrongness level 4: Everyone knows creepy fetishy things are just wrong. If any braindead internet-addled forumite wants to annoy me with their half-assed attempts at egalitarianism and tell me creepy fetishes aren't deeply, truly, seriously wrong, you need to spend several hours on Google looking up all permutations of "scat". There are plenty of things to have sex with as it is, and I have a hard time believing that the people who make these sorts of things have managed to get tired of ****ing actual women. Well, they're Japanese, I guess, and it's becoming increasingly apparent that the Japanese were never all that interested in ****ing humans in the first place so much as octopi and other horrible things, but that's no excuse for anyone else to put up with it.

Also- you say you're against "half-human half-anything" critters like in ST- how, exactly, is this not just that?
Title: something.
Post by: Nico on December 10, 2003, 06:34:00 am
I didn't say anything about my own tastes ( but if you really wanna know, I think a catgirl looks cute, while , for exemple, a vulcan looks like a dickhead, that doesn't go beyond that point for me ), I just asked why it would be any different. Guess it's not, and so I'm fine with it.
As for tolerancy/egalitarianism/whatever, that's something you have or don't have, you don't learn it, so I won't discuss it and don't care much, actually.

Tolerance is holding back at the opportunity to legislate against or otherwise force someone else to follow your opinions. Doesn't have anything to do with liking anyone, or forgetting what's downright creepy and what's not.

Egalitarianism is a dirty word for the zealotous nuttiness people are trying to intolerantly force on the masses these days, and primarily involves the foolish and insulting pretense that all people are essentially the same with a walloping dose of moral relativism on top.

Get your terminology straight.

And you still haven't answered the question in there- why? If it's not just a pervo thing, there must be an actual reason. Care to explain it, or prove me right?

Post by: Nico on December 10, 2003, 06:50:10 am
I took my own word, and added yours. To me, the finality for both is the same, and we're not on a linguistic board, so I don't feel like elaborating. You're intelligent, you can get what I meant by yourself ( you obviously did ).

why what?

Enough. This is the art forum. Offer critiscism/suggestions for the picture or shut up.

working on a Comic HIG?
Nice work.. BTW

EDIT: while you're perfectly entitled to your opinions stryke, and have the freedom to express it... you also have the right to ignore such things completely, and not express your opinion about it..if you don't like something, fine...but ranting about it is just unecessary, and portrays you to be a closed-minded person, who seemingly just exists to be a severe pain in the arse..:p

so if you don't like the theme, or content of something... don't comment on it..

And you're perfectly free to never express your opinions either. Practice what you preach, now, Turnsky, I for one never tell anyone to shut up and go away.

Anyway. For those who insist on having everything spelled out for them in preschool terms, ahem, what I said was not restricted to the concept of "catgirl". It's overly cutesy, but with sexual overtones, which is just plain creepy. And I feel dumber for having to slow down and explain everything to y'all.

It was obviously drawn in there the first time. The two are the same scan. So, um, why go to a specific effort to erase the name? The first one is "original"- if nothing else, yours is a leeeetle bit lossy, indicating the order in time.

Stryke: Hehe

I was anticipating a quick response, but it seems that won't be coming for now. Anyway, I've e-mailed the author of that picture, so we'll see what's up in a bit.

HIG: If you have anything to 'fess up, I suggest you do it soon to avoid losing too much face.

Odds are pretty good he'll be letting everyone know. At great length. Whether you want to hear it or not.

Strange the amount of passion people can put into the mere concept of artistic theft. I can understand it (quite a lot so) if it's your own or somebody's you know (/can track down). But... really. Anyone who'd falsify artistic skill solely in an attempt to possibly impress a few people they don't know and will never meet, with no financial gain... well, that's depressing, not infuriating. So... why care so much?

You're right, who cares. Thread locked for the time being - we won't get back on track here untill we know if it's HIGs own work or not.
