Hey everyone. BWO is making serious progress and I need a bit of help to cover one area that we don't really have anyone doing at the moment.
I need a person with some texture aristry ability. Essentially you'll be reskinning FS1 ships with a new texture style as well as looking over some of our current ships and fixing them up where necessary...not to mention adding shine and glowmaps to ships that don't presently have them (most of it is done, but I need someone to work on it).
The perks are that you get to play the WIP BlackWater Ops missions before anyone else does. We're about to release an internal beta of the entire first episode for internal testing...so thats the perk I can offer you :D
If you've got samples of work or well established reputation around here, thats preferable. It won't be a massive undertaking hopefully but it should bring things around into line and clear up some issues that I've tried to deal with myself and failed miserably.

for example the Golgotha needs it's textures for lower LODs made, the UV work has been done, but the actual texture is one I made in five munte to get it temporaraly working, well it's been three years.
what we need is someone with fresh eyes, who can pick out and most importantly fix all the little problems in the current mod, get everything polished, finalized.

Good luck. The thing we need most here are some really talented texture artists. Some of the FPS modding sites make some really incredible quality skins for their models and textures for their levels, and so far I haven't seen anything here approaching that quality. :(

well GE, I don't consider myself THAT bad as a texturer, and there are others at a similar level, but we are surely a bit too few.
The problem is not only (in my opinion) the lack of texturers, but also the lack of mappers with "artistic eye", I mean that to map big capships, you don't need necessarily to draw new texturers, but a lot of people just apply a general cubic uvmap and use 2 or 3 textures to map randomly the whole ship (wich isn't honestly that different to what :v: already did for some fs2 ships..).
I suppose that if we manage to obtain some results with some high quality level projects, showing what FSO can do, we may succesfully attract some new artists in the community.

Lightspeed does a real good job of making brand new maps from scratch, but I don't know if he has the time.

Well at the very least we'd need some work done on the following ships:
- Apollo
- Valkyrie
- Hercules
- Medusa
Although totally phased out in GTVA service, they still serve in relative numbers in the Sol Coalition alongside the few new fighters. We want to reskin them and perhaps clean up the overall style of SCP fighters and capital ships (which is already largely done thanks to Bobboau - just some cleanup involved). We'll also need some shinemaps in a few places.
